US Agency for International Development, AID, provides clean water, maternity care, HIV treatment and other services worldwide. It is part of soft diplomacy, spreading US influence by doing positive things. Cost effective, costs less than military action. Imperfect. Aid isn't extended to countries US dislikes, like Cuba for example. But saves millions of lives.
Two high level officials were fired after refusing to give Musk access to classified files they themselves did not have security clearance to access. Then whole department fired. AID Xitter account closed and Web site taken down. Musk, unelected, no constitutional authority, declared AID, duly authorized by Congress, an "illegal organization" that needs to be ended.
He now has access to AID classified files. Any of us would be arrested for that.
