Mel Gibson

With the passing of Sir Sean Connery, one of my favorites, it got me to thinking of who everybody's favorite actor is.

In no particular order my tops are Connery, Morgan Freeman, Denzel Washington, Robert DeNiro, Harrison Ford and Samuel L. Jackson.
My favorite is Kirk Douglas. I also like Robert DeNiro, Michael Keaton, Cary Grant and Peter Sellers. I've also found Kathryn Hepburn to be outstanding. Connery is by far the best James Bond and there is no one even close.

Besides Sean Connery (He was James Bond)

Jeff Bridges, Denzel Washington, Tom Hanks, Jodie Foster, Jack Nicholson, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Giamatti, Harrison Ford, John Cusak, James Spader, Gene Hackman, Sidney Poitier, Liam Neeson, Clint Eastwood, Robin Williams, Anthony Hopkins, Francis Mcdormand, Steve Beucemi, Hillary Swank, Viola Davis, Sigourney Weaver, Kathy Bates, Susan Sarandon
I've got to agree with Jeff Bridges.

I forgot to mention Henry Fonda.

I skimmed back through and didn’t see Matthew McConnaughy mentioned. Huge omission. Especially once he left the stupid rom coms behind. Good human also.

And @Lanny, did you ever see The Party with Peter Sellers? Very funny. My high school friends and I enjoyed it so much we went to Cinema 21 three times in one week to see it.

A few supporting actors I like....no particular order

Frances McDormad
Steve Buscemi
John Goodman
Richard Jenkins\Alan Arkin
Cloris Leachman

I think Robert Pattinson will be thought of as a great soon enough, if he's not already. Good Time and The Lighthouse are fantastic performances.

Ron Livingston is one of my favorites too from the 2000s. From Swingers to Office Space.

Yes, seen it twice and would love to see it a third time. Also loved loved little known After the Fox. One of the world's greatest comedians.

Jeff Bridges
Tilda Swinton
Juliette Binoche
Denzel Washington
Forest Whitaker
Robin Williams
Tilda Swinton is amazing....just amazing, everything she does......I just watched Forest Whitaker in The King of Scotland the other night....another masterful actor.I first saw him in the Crying Game with Stephen Rea who's another great actor......good list
I'd add Geoffrey Rush to this list

I don't like the direction Hollywood is going. I love a lot of the actors that have already been mentioned, but most of them are either gone or aging out. I don't think Hollywood is replacing them.

What young actors do you guys like?

The guy in the Mandalorian is one of my favorites, Timothy Olyphant.

He was in a movie I loved in the early 2000s called GO! and was also in the Hitman Movie.

How young?

Under 30.
I could name a few but it is tough because most are early on in their careers. I don't think most of the actors you're thinking of were huge stars or household names when they were under 30 though.

Sandra Oh;
Leonardo DiCaprio;
Viggo Mortensen.

I think I still might have a copy of The Party. If so, I’ll bring it to the next M&G.......assuming the pandemic eventually eases and we can have M&G’s......
