Trump talked to Putin just today..then this happens...hmmmmmm

Im not naive and I have family in law enforcement, 1 internal affairs and from what Ive learned over many years some cops are crooks and power hungry, just like some politicians, most are on power trips. There is a fine line often between a cop and criminal and few of these FBI dudes are as sleazy as they come.

My guess...Barr found this guy

The case is dropped and he is no longer considered a criminal. :dunno:

I like how you use a shrug emoji to shortcut "...even if he did break laws and got off because Trump's toadie runs the justice department." That emoji is doing a lot of work.

This ^^^...and I know it's been said before but if Trump is not defeated in November, this country is completely fucked.

It’s a shrug because it’s true. And don’t get me started with people being innocent because of some Administration shtick. That’s a rabbit hole no on the left wants to go down. Or maybe they do. I mean I’m sure everyone on the left thinks Hillary is innocent.

It’s a shrug because it’s true.

Actually, it's not technically true. The government made a motion for the case to be dropped. The case has not yet been dropped. He's still legally guilty, for the moment.

No, of course not. Hillary is, without exaggeration, the greatest murderer in human history. Even before she engineered Benghazi (that led to NO investigations, which is weird...), she Arkancided so many people. Under a McCain or Romney presidency, she would have been exposed as history's greatest monster.

So, you see, you don't have to get started. We all agree that Clinton ruthlessly and remorselessly killed untold numbers of people.

None of that relates to Trump's servile Attorney General dropping a case against a Trump ally.

Glad you think that. And it does have the same relevance since your comment was about the Administration covering for a specific person.

thanks!

For the moment, you are correct.

How does Obama covering for a mass murder have relevance to Trump letting off Flynn for his admitted crimes? Are you saying if Obama did it, then you're okay with Trump being deeply corrupt? Is this the "Everyone's corrupt, so I'm okay with Trump being deeply corrupt?" argument that every Trump-supporter uses when confronted by his inarguable corruption?

No sir, it relates because your statement was the Trump Administration let Flynn off the hook and he should be guilty.

The FBI and DOJ investigating Hillary Clinton that period her off the hook were part of the Obama Administration.

So you are saying that Trump is letting a guilty Flynn off the hook. You're simply saying that you're cool with it because you feel Obama's administration let Hillary off the hook.

Glad we cleared that up.

I’m saying you are saying that. I’ve already presented the evidence why the case was thrown out earlier in this thread.

Weird that the Trump administration didn't prosecute Hillary for all the murders and so on. Wonder why that is.

Maybe the same reason they didn't fix the 'supply cupboard' issue?

I’m saying you are saying that.

That's exactly what you just said. You said that's why your comment about Hillary Clinton related--if you weren't drawing an equivalence, there would be no relevance to bringing up Clinton.

Yep, repeating what you said. Instead of looking at evidence, you can determine who is or is not guilty. That’s not how the justice system works. Glad it actually worked like it was supposed to.

No, it's because he admitted his crimes. Clinton didn't admit to having committed any crimes, despite many, many investigations that turned up nothing. It's not that he's guilty because Trump's handpicked extension of his will decided to drop the case--if you thought that was my logic, you got it wrong. He's guilty because he already confessed. The point is that Trump's adjunct choosing to drop the case against Trump's ally is not in any way a good argument that no crime was actually committed.

And I'd say the same, even non-sarcastically, about anyone the Obama administration cleared. They aren't guilty specifically because his justice department cleared them, but his justice department clearing them/dropping the case isn't de facto evidence that they're clean.

Clinton's guilty, and you know it. Quit deflecting. ;)

I already gave my opinion about Clinton a few posts back in this thread. If you disagree with it, we can agree to disagree.

Cool. Thanks for the reference. Apart from being a murderer, I've always believed she's been corrupt in her business dealings, as well. For the record, that (shady business dealings) could be said about Trump, as well. I acknowledge that.

The United States of America hereby moves to dismiss with prejudice the criminal information filed against Michael T. Flynn pursuant to Federal Rule of Criminal Procedure 48(a). The Government has determined, pursuant to the
Principles of Federal Prosecution
and based on an extensive review and careful consideration of the circumstances, that continued prosecution of this case would not serve the interests of justice. Mr. Flynn entered a guilty plea—which he has since sought to withdraw—to a single count of making false statements in a January 24, 2017 interview with investigators of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (“FBI”).

This crime, however, requires a statement to be not simply false, but “materially” false with respect to a matter under investigation. 18 U.S.C. § 1001(a)(2). Materiality is an essential element of the offense. Materiality, moreover, requires more than mere “relevance” or relatedness to the matter being investigated; it requires “probative weight,” whereby the statement is “reasonably likely to influence the tribunal in making a determination
required to be made

After reading the “motion to dismiss” I’m extremely confident this was the right call. Go ahead and have the house and senate have Barr testify. He’s gonna make them look like fools.

The potential problems with this are (at least):
1) The judge already ruled in this case that the lie was material; and
2) Flynn not only pleaded guilty to this lie (twice), but also admitted to a few other crimes as part of the plea bargain.

So Flynn may well walk - but it's not because he's 'innocent'.

I would guess once we get rid of the banana republic, they'll find out how much of the shit that Trump has done was actually illegal or unethical.

Actually, who am I kidding. If Biden wins in 2020, they'll do nothing to Trump and he'll get away scott free with this shit.

Sadly, true. The new administration won't want to appear 'partisan', so they will leave everything that was swept under the rug alone.

"It's time to heal America, not to look back. We must move forward with a positive agenda for the future, blah blah blah".
