From Danny Ferry
"I can truthfully say that I have not turned down the job because it has not been offered to me."
To me, that was worded in a way that says I told them I would not accept it if they offered it to me.
I think the Blazers will be surprised by the interest their GM position will receive.
When is John Nash interviewing?
Sounds bogus to me. Why would Ferry interview for the job if he wasn't interested in it?
If he truly does turn it down, that is sad for the franchise.
If we felt Danny Ferry was our best option, it's even sadder for the franchise.
Other potential candidates are former Miami general manager Randy Pfund, former Denver and New Jersey general manager Kiki Vandeweghe, former Phoenix executive David Griffin. Mike Dunleavy, the former Blazers coach, and later general manager of the Clippers, is also believed to be interested.

Best of the worst.
Dunleavy. OH MY GOD.
If Dunleavy is hired I will have an incredibly hard time remaining a fan of the team (at least as long as Allen and Vulcan are running things).http://blog.oregonlive.com/behindblazersbeat/2010/06/danny_ferry_and_trail_blazers.html

Perhaps he got the heebie jeebies after meeting with Miller and PA? Perhaps he was willing to take the job if we offered him $5MM a year for five years? Perhaps he demanded complete control and we were unwilling to give it to him?
I am not sure where you are getting that from that quote
Blzersedge? blazers banter? something like that.
DANNY FERRY: "(GM job) has not been offered to me."

Danny Ferry is in attendance here at the FIBA U18 Americas Tournament, I asked Danny Ferry if there was any truth to Ken Berger’s report that he planned to turn down the Portland Trail Blazer’s offer to be GM and he replied:
“I can truthfully say that I have not turned down the job because it has not been offered to me.”

RETRACTION: I made an egregious error. Danny Ferry did not speak to me.

I'm so confused. Forget if an official offer was made, does he not want the job?
Because if he doesn't want it after meeting with the Blazers that is bad news. This is an up and coming playoff team. If a GM looking for a job doesn't want the position, maybe all the bad stuff about working for PA is true or maybe Ferry heard Blazers are not in a win at all cost mode but rather budget mode. I don't like either one of those.
I've seen this case with my Redskins before. The ownership there really does spend a ton of money on their facilities, coaches, players, etc. However, when they go coach shopping they assume that their willingness to spend money papers over all the structural flaws in the organization. That's why they thought two years ago they'd get Bill Cowher, but they ended up with Jim Zorn. To get Shanahan to coach for them, they had to reset the market and give him full control. Eventually, he'll get fired when Snyder feels like sticking his nose in the personnel side of the business again.
Paul Allen has become Dan Snyder.

Just because I hate conceeding to maxiep, I will add that maybe I overestimate the attractiveness to be the Blazer GM (putting aside management issues). Phx is looking for a GM and they went to the western confrence finals. Denver is looking for a GM and many consider them a superior team to the Blazers. These teams could be considered closer to a championship than the BLazers. Maybe Ferry expressed a desire to check out his options so no offer made.
Or maybe I'm overanalyzing a tweet that may or may not have been sent by Ferry . . .whatever it is, maxiep is wrong about all this.

Sounds bogus to me. Why would Ferry interview for the job if he wasn't interested in it?
Perhaps Ferry was interviewing the Blazers, and not the other way around? I've gone into interviews where I wasn't wild about the job and needed to be sold on it. Maybe Ferry didn't like what he heard. Maybe he had to fetch Bert Kolde coffee. Who knows? Ferry is a very wealthy guy; he's not like Pritchard, who made peanuts comparatively.
