Who's looking to dump salary before free agency? Wasn't there talk San Antonio was shopping Danny green? Ezeli and one of our end of the bench guys gets that deal done (i know we'll have to add a pick I'm just talking financially.)

Don't think we want to go deeper in the tax for Danny Green.

He graduated from high school at 14...got a degree in biology and never considered sports as a priority...the guy is supposedly extremely bright and will have a good job outside of basketball...I wish him well...don't really think he wanted to disappoint us but when it comes to injuries...shit happens

How about Boston? They'll need as much cap space as they can get. Jae Crowder and Marcus Smart interest me.

It might not be urgent but it's a pretty obvious 1st step.

I don't know about first step, but it's definitely a step at some point. It shouldn't get in the way of improving the roster though.

This must be the reason they haven't officially declined, right?

Well, they have until the first. Keeping him around in case his salary is needed for a trade seems like an obvious move. hopefully Neil pulls an asset out of a team looking to dump salary before free agency.

For example, Ezeli and a pick for Crowder. Then trade Aminu or Harkless, whichever one has more value.

Not sure I see a team that already owns a ton of other teams' picks, who's also in championship mode, give up a core guy for nothing else...

From my view of things, the only reasons to trade Ezeli is as part of some deal where we get back ~$8M in salary savings in exchange for the $7.7M contract with $1M guaranteed. We'd save $1M in that scenario. Another is in some deal that we save at least $8M in salary and the other team, or third team, wants the contract to save salary.

It's not an issue of paying the LT, it's an issue of using up one of the 3-out-of-4 LT seasons on a team that isn't a contender. Wait a year and we might be.

Boston is loaded on the wing and needs to clear cap space to go after the likes of Hayward. They're definitely in salary dump mode in the next week or so. Only question is asking price imo.

Could be. I just think they'll get a much more enticing offer than a less-than-desirable pick and a cash dump...

Neil is going to have to get creative. We won't get a Lakers Russell style dump. But we should be able to do something.

Yeah, that's the question.

Then agin we did get Harkless and Trob for pretty much nothing. I know neither is on Crowders level, but both the magic and rockets were motivated sellers, especially Houston who needed to clear space for Howard. Sometimes you take less for the bigger picture. Not sure Ainge is that guy though.

I think the rockets seem to be annual motivated buyers in acquiring cap space to chase free agents.

If Ainge dumps a good rotational player for cap space, it'll likely be after he secures a spoken commitment from a free agent like Hayward. The Warriors didn't dump Bogut for space until Durant had already committed, for example. I expect Ainge to proceed similarly, to reduce the risk. Since Ezeli (I believe) has to be moved or let go by the first, which is when the free agent moratorium (the period when teams can talk to free agents but not sign them) begins, the Celtics probably won't be a trade target.

Yeah I looked at their roster, not sure who they would trade that also makes sense for Portland. Lou Williams? I know Morey and Olshey have a good relationship though.

2nd rounders?

Beverly?

Beverley would be an ideal backup, but I'm not sure how he'd feel about it. I'm sure there's a team out there that needs him more than we do.
he would kind of fit the " scrappy-edgy" tude direction the likes of Josef and Collins bring. Refs hate us any way.

I'm all for him. We need more scrappy players like him for sure, and he's a good shooter. Wonder what Houston would want.

rumors the jazz were window shopping. sean Devaney reported the rockets were looking for cap relief before the draft.

Beverley did just make first team nba defense so asking price has likely gone up.
