If Serbia wins the cup and Canada wins 3rd place.

Serbia
Germany
Canada
Lithuania

Teams better than USA.

Spo is half Filipino, and the Philippines are big time NBA fans so I'm sure the local crowd are devastated

Can't staff the team with a bunch of role players.

These other teams have been playing together for years. So in the past we have just brute force beat them with insanely talented rosters. This team was not..... insanely talented.
The ironic thing is we would have probably taken most of the players on Team USA back as the centerpiece of a Dame trade aside from Portis, Reaves and Hart…

Reaves is hot. I would love to have him on SF. We can have him for Dame and HCP.

He would instantly have one of the highest iqs on the team. He’s so good, but ya, stats

I've only seen one full game with him. Against Lithuania. He was always 5th option on the court. He was invisible for his teammates to the point, he became invisible for Lithuania. He scored two times being completely alone. Played one good defensive play. He was non factor.
Where is the Magic I don't see?

Too old and sick to debate stupid shit at this point. I love him. Mike Schmitz raved about him before the draft and I know still likes him. Hopefully, if traded here, you see it one day. If he’s not traded here then hopefully you continue not seeing it

Mike raved about him in 2021. But I am with you. If we get him, I hope he will do Jokic.

Nikola Jovic played superbad in the Finals. Don't know if he's a worthy centerpiece for a Dame trade.

Well, there it is. USA fail to medal.
This WC has been good for some people's reputations, bad for others. Let's recap:
GOOD:
Dillon motherfuckin' Brooks. Just got 39 points while eliminating US. Enough said.
Shai - arrived as a superstar last season but showed it on the world stage
Anthony Edwards - well, he kind of laid an egg today, but otherwise he was USA's star player. Of course, the US weren't that great...
Austin Reaves - got 23 points today and in general forced more heralded players out of the lineup. If the Lakers wanted to get Dame...
Tyrese Halliburton - one of the bright spots for Team USA. Good +/- guy
Dennis Schröder - came up big - World Champion! Raptors may have actually improved at PG.
Franz Wagner - already passed up Detlef in the pantheon of German greats, and must be eyeing Dirk
Bogdan Bogdanovic - Serbia was a team without their stars, except for him. Carried them all the way to the final

BAD:
Brandon Ingram - pouted his way out of the lineup and was a DNP today
Jaren Jackson Jr. - Also a DNP. Not good when you're supposed to be the best defender and one of the few big men. Failed to rebound, which isn't surprising, but didn't get many blocks, which is.
Paolo Banchero - another DNP. Should've played for Italy.
Jalen Brunson - after starting brightly he was just brutal. The team always started poorly until Halliburton subbed in.
Porzingis - Latvia way overperformed... AFTER he went down.
Team France - first of the contenders to flame out. To be fair, they always start slow in tournaments but this time they never got the chance to gel.

EDIT: apparently those DNPs today were innocent. Hmm. Doesn't change that Ingram and Jackson looked pretty bad. Banchero gets a pass because he's so young.

UNCLEAR:
Doncic - by stats alone, the tournament MVP. But pouted and sulked and didn't medal. Claimed to be playing injured.

Doesn't help that they didn't send the best players. But they got what they deserved. And in grand scheme of things, who cares?

Would be funny if Canada beats the US and USA doesn’t medal.

USA’s easy schedule might have impacted their success in this tournament.
Lack of talent impacted it. We can no longer roll out or D or F team anymore and expect to win, plain and simple.

True, especially at the 4 and 5 spots. I'm not sure whether Kerr's commitment to small ball was exposed, or if commitment to it with the wrong players was, but it didn't work out well. Rebounding matters.

Canada and Serbia didn't have their A teams either :dunno:

Nah, the US still had enough talent so that they SHOULD have won Gold. Other countries just want it more.

Wasn't his point about NBA championship being labeled world championship? Instant karma?
Not at all when we didn't send our best players. We sent role players basically. The game has evolved and it now takes our stars to win. We will have NO troubles next summer bringing home the gold.
