It's the GMs job to evaluate talent and predict the outcome of trades and picks. A GM can't draft multiple busts and fuck up trades then hide behind the skirt of "hindsight is 20/20", because it's their JOB to predict. You can only not penalize them for things that are tottally unforseeable, like a freak injury like Matthews sustained for example.

As for the downside of being 40 million over the came as opposed to 4, I'll tell you why: let's say for example, that we'd like to retain Mason Plumlee for 10 million a year. Because we're going to be deep into the luxury tax next year, that 10 million dollar will cost Paul Allen 45 million per year. I know Paul is rich, but don't think he won't balk and spending 45 mil for Mason Plumlee.

Another downside is that it makes that player almost impossible to trade. If Crabbe were making 5-6 million per year, he'd be an attractive trade piece to include with a player like CJ, but at 18 mil, nobody will want him.
Is their job to predict, but sometimes you have to take risks that might not pan out. Nobody knew Wes and Afflalo would get hurt. It was the right risk to take at the time.

We'd trade Leonard or let Ezeli walk to resign Plumlee. Simple.

And yeah, Crabbe has less trade value because he's making $18M, but what would be his trade value to us if he was playing for the Brooklyn Nets?

I think @BlayZa Is a hot Aussie female. NOt a dude. ;)

australia? female!! ARGGGGHHH

Really? We just bought tickets to go there but may have to change up the time of our trip. Any suggestions of places to visit? Starting off in Auckland.

NZ isnt hazardous really, we have had a couple of decent sized earthquakes, but not a lot of death. some good damage tho.

Auckland is awesome, thats where im at. I work here
8577_hoatout1_00_p_1024x768.jpg
and its summer here atm :)

there are TONS of places to visit, depends on what you like. beaches - tons. nature shit - tons. good food - tons. wine - epic tons. fishing? - tons.
north island has more individual places to go - 90 mile beach, Lake Taupo, Coromandel, on n on.
south island is more sparse of people, much more mountains as its cut down the middle by a fault line n range. but the top of the south island, Nelson area etc is super cool.

Australia is full of poisonous shit that can kill you and New Zealand is full of sheep.

cant even tell you the last time i saw a sheep, australia has more, we have a higher sheep to human ratio, but then again the combined weight of all termites on the earth is more than the combined weight of all humans, so everything is relative and open to percption.

Meyers contract isn't that bad dude. Seriously, go look at what some of the big men were getting paid over the summer.

looking just at the numbers, maybe his contract isn't that bad - but he sure as hell is that bad.

but he's worse than last year, and he sucked last year. doesnt use any of his physical 'gifts' to his advantage, shoots like shit, and regularly gets fucked up by his opposite.

he's trash when we signed him, and more trash now

his career avg PER is 11.7 (15 is league avg) aka was always a below avg player, this season he's pulling in a stellar 7.7

hence the fuck meyers all day, err day

Excuses aren't great, but Leonard started the season way earlier than expected with his injured shoulder.

A lot of teams would look at his size and his career .373 3pt shooting an 8.7 rebounds/36 and his 12.6 points/36 and would take him and his $10M salary.

And to them I say, "Bonne Chance!"

feel free to contact those teams with an expression of desperation from our side.

holy fuck.

that's a treasure trove of gold.

"“I feel that I have the ability to affect the game statistically and outside of statistics,” Leonard said. “I really feel that I have a major effect offensively, even if it doesn’t show up in a stat book, because teams’ bigs struggle to guard me at the three-point line" -

barely hitting 3's.....

"Defensively, I feel like I am much improved. The game is way slower on the defensive end of the court. I could care less about statistics, but they want me to rebound out of my area, they want me to go after more. Sometimes I get boxed out and I could go get it or I could let the ball drop and let the guard grab it. I do need to be more assertive."

wow...
'member the Kings game?
meyers_career_game.png

yeah, i 'member.

“It’s insane, man,” Leonard said about his changes in the offseason. “I feel so much more comfortable out there. I didn’t play at the end of the year. I didn’t even get to train this summer and I didn’t get to play this summer. I just feel so much better out there. I know now that I’m no longer a defensive liability at all. I’m feeling better at the rim, I’m feeling better at my rebounding. Offensively, I feel like I’m doing more. Rather than just shooting, I can cut to the rim. I’m just feeling comfortable and confident. I know that I can be a very effective player and someone that can help this team win.”

feeling his best, playing his worst, doesnt care about stats, basketball is what he does not who he is.

wow.

fuck this guy.
still.

If we had let him and Meyers go, we could have signed Plumlee without going into the luxury tax. But hey, what do I know, maybe Paul Allen actually does want to 200 million on a non playoff team.

That would be NO's job. I'm fine with what he's done and his track record. I'll let him contact whatever teams he wants.

I just see Meyers as a guy who'll be a career role player...some games won't see the court....sort of Matt Bonner or Brian Scalabrini type long ball shooter you can trot out and spare your core bigs from foul trouble

I see Meyers retiring after this contract and becoming an Olympic Beach Volleyball player.

I knew a fellow named Mike Whitmarsh. A very nice guy.

RIP

Fully in the Blazers are better by subtraction in regard to Meyers.

I've never seen an NBA big so allergic to contact. One who bends at the waist (and closes his eyes) to avoid even perceived contact that may (or may not) be coming.

Meyers being in the league is out of his league.

Seriously? That would be awesome!!! allowed to shoots some balls?

Maybe they would adopt the Zeros as a practice squad training team for the third stringers.
Yeah last time they let us go to the training facility, they had workouts for us all ran by bobby medina.

Rich cho was a nice guy.

We had two different meetings with KP, Cho even bought us pizza and we ate in the draft room while he talked to us. Very cool.

Olshey will meet with us if we buy $50k worth of advertising. #TrueFact

Whitsitt had a meet & greet with us, but it turned out that he wanted to sell us to Chinese investors in return for robots that could throw passes to the Seahawks' receivers. So that was unpleasant--we didn't get to ask many questions and most of the answers were in Mandarin.

Just easier to bench him
