“I want to go to a big market so I hope I get fired” seems like bad logic. I don’t think he wants to get fired. I do think he is sick of the media and fans and the big fish small pond atmosphere. Most people think he loves the attention but he couldn’t care less.

I think I could point out double digit Olshey transactions that used worse logic than him trying to get paid by Portland and another organization.

Didn't Neil have a chance to go to the Hawks. If so, and this dude is right, why didn't he take the job. And why didn't Paul hear all this scuttlebutt when he was alive. I doubt Paul would have put up with this bullshit. I find a lot of this to be made up. Paul would never have allowed a staff member, or other personnel to sabotage the Blazers. He loved this team.

If he gets fired, he'll get paid by the Blazers for the rest of his contract and he'll be able to go to a big market (in his eyes) and double dip.
Yes I know. But normally “getting fired” doesn’t help you go get another job. He would need to be successful and hope to jump somewhere else. I cannot imagine Neil is thinking he would love Chicago, NY, LA, Miami, Dallas so I hope I get fired for my performance so I can leave.

I can't imagine Neil couldn't sweet talk his way into some assistant GM role right away, double dip while kissing up to the owner, then swoop in to replace the current GM he was working for.

Whether Olshey leaves on his own or gets fired won't change any owners opinion of his abilities or lack their of. It shouldn't at least.

Ok yeah, if it’s a step down or just any job yes he would get hooked on somewhere whenever he wants. I actually know for a fact that if he wants a job in one certain city he can have it whenever he wants. But it won’t pay him like he does now. I was thinking if wants to still be a GM and Pres of Bball Ops in a big market, getting fired won’t help.

I get what you're saying, I guess I just don't agree.

If Spoelstra got fired, I think he would have the exact same amount of interest around the league as if he left on his own. These front offices already have their opinions on these guys and aren't waiting to see how the break up happens to decide if they think someone is valuable or not.

Certainly not the first time there have been reports of Neil being less than enamored with Portland and wanting to go to a bigger market.
Just a matter of time he will be working with the Vulcan mothership in some other capacity. Remember, they are a centralized company and it wouldn't take much to beam him somewhere else.

NeO is not being held hostage so it's possible he is not a fan of the CITY of Portland but does not mean he does not like his job with the team. I am getting tired of all these negative articles and the vibe almost comes off like the jailblazers era for no real good reason. It seems like everyone is just annoyed about how things are going and the fact the best player the Blazers have ever had is a breath or two away from asking out. It's time the team and the fans RALLY cause if this devisive BS continues to happen then the fans might as well start figuring out how to say goodbye to Dame and welcome years of being lotto bound.

What is there positive to talk about? I'll wait...

Btw jailblazers and this should never be compared again in terms of negative press lol. That's a joke.

What's positive is obvious. We got rid of Stotts. The comparison is that the moral/religious certitude of the anti-Whitsitt crowd was the same as that of the anti-Olshey crowd now. They are mostly the same crowd.

You notice that I've flipped on Olshey. The enemy of my enemy becomes my friend.

Wait a minute! Olshey is one enemy but who is the other?

In the proverb "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" the person making the statement (@jlprk) sees Stotts as his enemy and because Olshey fired Stotts, Olshey became Stotts's enemy as well which by the proverb's logic makes Olshey and @jlprk friends. I've always found this proverb to be ludicrous because it completely ignores competing interests and assumes absolutes but that's just me I guess. I figure you can dislike two people on opposite sides of an in house rivalry because both are fucking shit at their jobs and you have a vested interest in the success of the company they work for.

Fun Fact:
My 21 yo son started playing 2k (2018). He decided to go into the GM mode, just so that he could Fire Stotts!

btw, apparently Caleb Swanigan was a "beast" in 2k.

Ah, I thought he might have an enemy right here on our board!

That's It! I'm done with the doom and gloom (from me). I still have the same opinion about what will probably happen (Dame traded because Neil is a snake) but from here on out I'm operating on here like the right thing will happen. We will put a package together that likely includes every draft pick possible and CJ for Simmons. We will re-sign Norm. We will trade Nurk for the best value possible, most likely our sixth man. We will sign Bobby Portis to the taxpayer MLE. DJJ will opt in (that's happening whether I like it or not but under Chauncey, I like it). We will sign Andre Drummond for the vet min. We will compete for the number one seed in the whole damn league next season and a chip with a rotation of:

Dame, Norm, Simmons, RoCo, Portis, what we get for Nurk, Ant, Nas, Drummond and DJJ

My enemy is the anti-Whitsitt crowd. They have found a new enemy in Olshey. Therefore, Olshey becomes my friend.

Or you choose which of the 2 enemies will become your friend. I hereby annoint Olshey as the new Whitsitt!

I'm glad you cleared that up; I have been stressing about it for days!

Doubtful since Masai was the one who was claiming racism and harassment from a cop.
masai was correct in doing so. but back to the point, i think he's waiting around in Toronto to finish the draft, then move on. absolutely no reason for him to not have signed it already if he is planning to stay.

God if we actually fire Olshey and bring in Ujiri. Whooooooo boy. Kind of weird if he comes in without being able to choose his coach though.

he's also the guy that traded Chauncey (and Melo) to NY as his first move ever as GM in Denver. Not sure of their relationship.

But i doubt our ownership/front office would do something so competent. They'll either hope and pray the backlash on Olshey dies down, or bring in some assistant GM for cheap.

He's the guy who traded us Felton as well, so he really owes it to us to come here and help fix some of this mess.
