One thing i have always wished for was that Stotts was a little more willing to get T'd up. Kind of wish he was a bit more vocal at times.

The list of players who have done better under Stotts is impressive.

1. Batum - Just look at the difference from when he played for Nate and then Stotts.

2. Lopez- Played his best under Stotts.

3. Plums - Played his best under Stotts.

4. Nurk - Played his best under Stotts.

5. Turner - Insufficient data. Looking better this season.

6. LMA - Played his best under Stotts.

Okay. Just being Devils advocate here but in all of those cases the player was a year or so older and they improved physically also. Plums went to a starting position. Lopez just seemed to get better> Nurk also went to starting. Turner has IMO gotten better but i agree. Not enough data.

I like Stotts. These days the personnel is more important than the coach. Is Tyronn Lue a championship caliber coach? Do people consider Thibbs a high caliber coach? The Wolves are 2-3 after acquiring 2 more All-Stars to go with their young studs. I think a coach can only do so much.
Thibs is soooo bad fit with MIN... defensive coach with team that cant play defense to save their life

unless they bring players who can play defense, they should let him go and find someone who can run that offense, potential is there... KAT, Wiggins and Butler are too good offensive players to get wasted by Thibs

So you're saying that Stotts got acceptable production when putting non starting talent level centers into a starting role?

I agree.

No question he gets the best out of very little. I was kind of making conversation. Plums really did well with the offense that was run through him. Stotts kind of coaches to the players talents.

Stotts will only move on when either Dame or Olshey think he can't take the team to the next level. I don't see that happening any time soon.

Not kind of. That's what Stotts does.

He puts players in position to take advantage of their skills.

McMuffin spent years pounding square pegs into round holes. Stotts finds the hole they best fit in and lets them slide in naturally.

I think this is a bit unfair to Nate. He was very "best player available" oriented. When it was Roy - it was all Roy all the time. When it was LMA - he ran him down and we had a LaMonster era for a while - so he basically created a system in the shape of the best player. What Nate did not do well - is try to mold every other player on the roster to play in a way that benefited just the best player (which is why Rudy had problems when he had to fill in for Roy or the professor when he had to play with Roy) - Stotts is able to tweak a system based on all the individual players - while still being geared at the best players (Lillard/LMA before, Lillard/CJ now with a sprinkling of Nurk).

You think the players are turning on Stotts???
Not TURNing on him. I think almost all the players like him as coach.

I said TUNING him out. When you hear the same message for a while, you don't listen to it as closely or pay close enough attention to it. I'm thinking Stotts message is growing stale to the team.

So they no longer pay attention to the message of "the ball goes in the hoop, not on it"?

The defense is clearly better. I do not think there is an issue of the players not running the plays or committing to the system. I only got to see 1/2 of the game last night - but the problem was clearly just not hitting shots.

I guess i have always equated "Tuning out" as not listening or not respecting the message. That seems to be a precursor to turning on him. Losing the team type thing.

That's the way i see it also. Simply did not hit the shots they were supposed to. Davis went like 0-7 and Pat went 1-5. The Blazers went 15-40 in the paint. They didn't shoot well enough to win.

I think he good coach but put improve due to everyone can improve on something but I consider him a top 10 coach. The players play hard for him every night. Have I question some his decision in some I sure have but it don't make him a bad coach.

That is kind of why i put that answer on there. Even Stotts would tell you he could be better i'm sure.

It's tough to shoot well in the paint when Deandre Jordan had free reign to do ANYTHING he wanted with no consequences whatsoever. He had zero fould last night. When was the last time an active center like Deandre gets zero fouls when we're shooting 40 shots in the paint?

I wouldn't can him. The playoffs are the time to discuss this. If we can't make the playoffs due to his staff and players are healthy then by all means he could be fired.

Good point. Zero Fouls from Deandre Jordan. When does that ever happen?
