The problem wasnt the bench in that game we 2 players in double figures and believe we got 30 points off the bench. Our problem is the coaching decision at the end of the games I can over look at if this was the first time to have the wrong personal on the floor during crunch time but this was back to back games he did the same stupid mistake. You must have your best player in at crunch time simple facts and if you lose than lose. But not having one of your best player in there at crunch that don't make sense. You bench Nurk the last 3 plus minutes I believe against Memphis and then the last 11 minutes against the Nets. I am not saying fire Stotts but he has to be smarter though in crunch time. Believe me the players has some faults too for not excuting in crunch time.
we were in position to win all those games....you have to make the shot, protect the ball and rebound...turnovers on 3 possessions lost the game...also no offense from the SF and PF positions....Pat Connaughton gave them 2 possessions in the last minutes with sloppy play...Turner stepped out of bounds the next play...CJ turned the ball over...Mo couldn't make a layup or tip in......I blame those guys for lack of execution down the stretch

I think my biggest issue is that the team seems to be making the same mistakes year after year, and regress.

They went from 51 wins to 44 to 41.

It should be the other way around.

I'm still not a fan of Stotts and if a better replacement can be found, I'm all for it. But the more I read and the more I think about it, I'm good with him benching Nurkic. I myself observed that Nurkic was getting sloppy on the offensive end in the second half. Didn't seem to be making good decisions on when to shoot and when not to, and wasn't in good position to make some of the shots he was trying. Then I read that Vanterpool (a guy I respect) was yelling at him a couple times, apparently concerning lack of hustle on defense. This lack of effort was confirmed by posters on another forum. I'm one of those who say that a shortcoming of Stotts is that he doesn't hold players accountable; well, this time he did, and the guys who were still out there should have been able to carry on and win that game. Stotts tried to help Nurkic save face, by saying he was out because he wanted to match Nets small ball.
I still question whether Davis was the best choice to be out there and the lack of any plan as to what to do if Russel got ISO'd on Davis again, but I'm OK with sitting a guy down if you don't think he is giving defensive effort and is making bad decisions on offense.
I rewatched the 2nd & 3rd quarters focusing on Nurk.
He did take a couple of wild shots at the end of the 3rd. He should have been pulled for a few minutes...however he did nothing to warrant being benched.
If anything Dame's terrible defense was the cause.
I think the play Nurk got in trouble for was 100% on Dame in my view. The Nets player was driving to the left. Dame was beat at first, but had the angle to get back into the play - however he quit on the play assuming Nurk would pick his man up.

for the meltdown here...yeah...he primed the pump...and I can't stand the guy...I'm still cheering for the team and enjoying the season....I think the Blazers will be fine...sure we had a stinker against the nets....shit happens...Stotts pulled Nurk......Popovich pulls his starters for entire games all the time....it's how you get a good bench...the way I see it, Stotts trusted the bench and they didn't play well. Trust the process and move on...get the next one. TURNOVERS LOST THE GAME
Dude, you have no idea what you're talking about. Everyone here was noticing how bad a job Stotts did. You really think that most of the people own here formulated their opinion because of what Dwight Jaynes said? They didn't. You obviously didn't pay attention.

Your defense of Stotts is completely made up and reaching.

These are the same problems we had the past couple years. Our offense stagnates in the 4th because it's predictable and stale. That less. Read the OP. All those things are still problems, yet blind Stotts defenders will act like Terry has no say in the matter.

Portland averages 4.6 points per game off the break. Golden State gets 27.2.

So, the best team in the league seems to think getting points on fast breaks is a good idea, but we don't? If we have too many turnovers on fast breaks, then maybe we need to practice them more?
We have the personnel to be a fast break team too. I don't understand that shit.

Dude, you have no idea what you're talking about
I in fact do know what I'm talking about...difference is I'm not impatient with this season ...I come here to cheer for my team...I like the coach...I don't care what anyone else feels about that...the season is young and already many of you are freakin' out.....yeah..you have company. So be it....this happens every season....it's why I can't enjoy game threads here...a lot of Blazer bashing thrown around aimed at everyone from the star of the team to the owner....I don't have this problem...don't want it either....if we lose 12 games in a row, I'll have issues...at 500 12 games in.....I'm not panicked

Im sure someone else has said it, but Stotts is the offensive equivalent of Nate McMillan.

opinion because of what Dwight Jaynes said?
no...but he was the first guy mentioned when we lost and I'll bash Jaynes any opportunity I get...can't stand the guy...folks jumped right in and I'm still cheering here...y'all can suck the joy out of the season if you want

If Nurk would have been in would Pat been on the floor at that time if the game. Yes those turnover at that time of the game was a killer but the offense might been different if the big man was in the game. You put your best players in no matter the out come that plan and simple. Bad execution and bad decision making by the coach you got want got a big loss.

Exactly this.

About being impatient.

Yes, maybe season is young. Thing is, it is not exactly about this season. It's about our team being on roundabout for few years now. It's not like we have new team and have to wait. I just can't see any progress. Many of fans here just don't eat this "let the cake bake" crap anymore. We just have enough of Blazers being pussies. (I mean, that's what I think).

Not really, just think those who defend this man are ridiculous.
Dude, what is your problem??? It’s like the last several months all you’ve done is complain, whine and debase anyone and everyone who disagrees with you. Since when did God die and make you an expert? Playing one year of junior college ball does not pad your resume in any meaningful way. Is it because you’re no longer playing that makes you so disagreeable? You accuse other forum members of driving people away but it’s long past time you looked in the mirror. You make this a less than pleasurable place to visit. Maybe it’s time for an attitude change.....?? Or making an effort to give others the respect you so apparently seem to crave for yourself....? All I know is your shit has grown exceedingly annoying.....

When it comes to me and Riverman, we don't get along. Im not going to try to pretend like we do. You're ranting because I'm voicing my opinion. That's fine.

I just think it's ridiculous when someone's trying to say the forum is basing their opinion off what a journalist said on Talkin Ball. His other reasons for defending Stotts were shown as false by other posters. That's why I think those defending him right now are ridiculous, because of the reasons they're using.

But because I think that's ridiculous, you can think whatever you want about me. It's not really going to affect me. If I make this place so unenjoyable, you can put me on ignore.

think whatever...just don't disrespect others who don't feel that way.....
Says the dude who's claiming that Dwight Jaynes is the reason for the opinions we have on Stotts.

I agree.

I've disagreed with Stotts' philosophy from day 1, but I've been pretty patient as far as not calling for his head too seriously. I've seen countless posts about the same issues regarding Stotts for as long as he's been here. Labeling the discontent in this thread as impatience over a 12 game sample is obtuse. We've seen these same issues and been vocal about them for literally years now, and at this point there are no more excuses. We're simply seeing the best Stotts has to offer. Unless he suddenly pulls his head out of his ass, takes control of this team, and gets them to play some god damn defense and less iso ball on offense, it's time to look for his replacement.

Like you did with @HCP? Don’t be a hypocrite. Start owning your own shit. You whine when @HCP hurts your tender feelings but then come on like a recalcitrant jack wad when it comes to insulting others. Opinions are like assholes....and this forum has a surplus of both those things. Get over it....and yourself. Basketball is just a fucking game. If you can’t keep that in perspective then life is just waiting to dump a pile of shit on top of your head....

Riverman gets along with everyone. If you can't get along with him then the problem is with you.

You're ranting because I'm voicing my opinion.

In reading the exchange between you two I would say you're the one ranting.

@UncleCliffy'sDaddy is also ranting but he's normally pretty mellow. I heard rumors that he smokes the marijuanas. He'll stop ranting once he lights up again.
Yeahhh maaaannnn..........that Bones dude is harshing my mellow........gotta fire up just to sign onto the forum anymore....

Actually, maybe Bones should give it a try........

I'm just having some fun. No insult intended.
I know. And actually.........you have no idea how close to the truth you......and I.......are. But I’m thinking Denny might want to create a suicide hot line for the forum at the start of every season. Though it’s obviously too late for this season.....
