Some will defend Stotts and some want to hang him effigy. However, we can voice and hear the viewpoints of either side and enjoy the conversation in a civil manner.

There needs to be a place where Blazer fans with different thoughts and opinions can express and debate them without fear of being attacked or insulted. We could call it a forum.

Or just banish those wanting to create their own brand of UFC in RC2 and send them to the O-Live Blazer forum. Hahaha

ah, the good old days of "penthouse forum", can we bring them back?

I'm still not a fan of Stotts and if a better replacement can be found, I'm all for it. But the more I read and the more I think about it, I'm good with him benching Nurkic. I myself observed that Nurkic was getting sloppy on the offensive end in the second half. Didn't seem to be making good decisions on when to shoot and when not to, and wasn't in good position to make some of the shots he was trying. Then I read that Vanterpool (a guy I respect) was yelling at him a couple times, apparently concerning lack of hustle on defense. This lack of effort was confirmed by posters on another forum. I'm one of those who say that a shortcoming of Stotts is that he doesn't hold players accountable; well, this time he did, and the guys who were still out there should have been able to carry on and win that game. Stotts tried to help Nurkic save face, by saying he was out because he wanted to match Nets small ball.
I still question whether Davis was the best choice to be out there and the lack of any plan as to what to do if Russel got ISO'd on Davis again, but I'm OK with sitting a guy down if you don't think he is giving defensive effort and is making bad decisions on offense.

If that is what it was then Im cool with that.

There's really only one thing to do.

Head Coach Myers Leonard.

barfo

So...I should NOT burn my Jersey? Coach Leanard???

I'm the bad guy around here all the time. It's fun. Own it when it's necessary, apologize and move on when needed.

Bullshit.

Listen you motherfuckers, I'm the ranting asshole around here. None of you are in my league.

Learn to rant, then play.

Please. You're a con artist and nothing more. You can't play with the hard cores..
Your not even in my league.... hell you aren't even in HCP's league who isn't even in my league...
Go back to the playground greenie. Someone will toss you a ball or something.

I don't buy that that is where we're at as a team or coaching staff....as much as many forum members want to use him as a scapegoat....I don't think he deserves that from the fanbase....he's not happy about the close losses....he's said so. He also has his teams playing better as the season progresses...Stotts says his goal is to be peaking as a team come playoff time and the team should be better in March than November.....I agree...it's not like Nurk has had a ton of games to develop veteran chemistry with the roster....and Chief is a gaping hole in the lineup now....Stotts has said as much...Vonleh has played two games...patience brings rewards....which was my point...too early to freak out with 2 losses recently...one good win and everyone will be happy again

These are true, but still dont really address how some of the same mistakes have continued to happen going into the third uyear with the bulk of the same roster? Mistakes two years ago should no longer be mistakes and I think that is why most people are starting to turn on Stotts.

People need to get ahold of themselves. They are 6-6. They should probably be 8-4. If they were 7-5 you ain't having all these conversations.
Here is a quote. He knows better than we do i assume.
"I respect coach's decision," said Nurkic, who scored 21 points against Brooklyn despite only playing for 53 seconds in the fourth quarter. "And to be honest, I never have a better coach than Stotts. So, there's (not) anything wrong."
Stotts ain't going anywhere. He is just fine. Does he make mistakes? Yes. Would i have done things different last game probably. But you live and learn. Simple

Link please? If Nurk said this then they had a talk which is great.

I agree! People need to masturbate more.

Man!!.... This is a "Basketball" forum, not a "Touching My Basketball" Forum...

Exactly. But if you claim everyone else's opinion is derived from a sports journalist, and make up fallacies to try to back up your point, be prepared to get your statements called "ridiculous" or receive some other types of minor flack.

And here's the rest of the quote
"Everybody want to be out there," he said. "There is not one player on our team that don't want to be in a close game and finish the game. Definitely, I want to be out there. But, like I said, there is not wrong play (by) coach. It's his decision and I need to respect that and I respect that."

The Blazers were bad in fast break points last year, now they are dead last. We are in the bottom 3rd of points off turnovers as well. Defense is middle of the road.

I feel bad for Stotts, who doesn't have the right forwards to make major changes to the pace of game, defense or floor spacing. However, it's clear that the pick-and-roll offense isn't all that amazing. I'd like to see them run a ton more screens ala the Warriors to make make the opposing defense actually work hard at that end, even when the shots aren't falling.

I'd like to see some change, if not, let him go.

Apparently according to Joe Freeman's report, Vanterpool was screaming at Nurk for defensive mistakes before he got benched. That's great. Holding players accountable for their mistakes even at the cost of losing a game in November is perfectly fine for me.

The only thing that sticks out is a possibly glaring double standard with Nurk, vs Dame/CJ. Has DV ever screamed at Dame/CJ for their lack of effort on D, or the times they get completely lost? Maybe he does, but they certainly don't get benched for an entire quarter. If this team thinks Nurk is on par with Dame/CJ as a building block, he can't be held to a different standard.

This is how coaches begin to lose their locker rooms. Multiple indications of Terry already beginning to slip this year, and we can't really say this wasn't coming. 6 years is a loooooooong time for the same voice, unless you're Carlisle/Spo/Pop/etc.

Perhaps DV holds Nurk to a higher standard defensively because his ability and expectations are higher. If I had pulled a 3.0, my mom would have smacked and grounded me; if my little brother had ever done so, she'd have thrown him a parade, and deservedly so. Perhaps there's a similar disparity in defensive talent and potential between Nurk and Dame/CJ.

True. Take me off as a staff member so these people can shelter themselves from all the disgusting, harmful vile I post.

If Denny lays you off, how will you pay your bills? He's against pension funds, so maybe the other moderators can chip in.

Still doesn't make it OK. One of the keys to Pop's success in SA is his ability to treat his #1 the same way he treats his #15.

And let's be fair here, it's not like Dame/CJ are maximizing their defensive potential.

Also, it's on Terry end of the day. DV might actually yell at everyone-- but Terry needs to have similar consequences for every player.

I re-watched the 2nd & 3rd quarter to see what Nurk did wrong defensively.
The play I believe he got in trouble for was 80% Dame's fault IMO. Dame got beat & gave up when he had the angle to get back to challenge the shot.
Nurk didn't rotate over (as he was following his man as he was vacating the space).

I don't like Portland's over-reliance on the switch. I think that creates lazy defenders. I believe this situation was that case in point.

This forum is exactly what it's supposed to be! Get it?

And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful forum.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

I'm calling bullshit on that one! :D

His treatment of Nurk and the potential in Collins and Swanigan will be a true test of Stotts coaching acumen. I Wonder why giving plaiying time to guys like Aminu or Davis or Vonleh who are not the Future of this team and not giving Collins minutes and he is probably our Future PF
