First Round Game 4: Blazers @ Rockets Thread

I don't think the refs ultimately decided it, but I'm tired of all this ticky-tack crap with Greg and Joel getting called for questionable fouls when it's the playoffs. The continual looks on Greg and Joel's faces of "what the hell?" after getting whistled for breathing on Yao is tiring.

And then seeing our guys continually get hand-checked and grabbed, and having their progress impeded several times, and not getting that called is bullshit.

Just a bad chain of events in that fourth quarter from bad execution, untimely turnovers yet again, and seeing our guys get shoved made for a depressing end.

The whole "breathing on" also applies the other way, on Brandon Roy as well. To a point where towards the end he was just TRYING to draw fouls by running and bumping into Rockets players and then do a shooting act. It finally ended when Scola drew a charge on him. Honestly, Roy and Yao are both getting their superstar treatment - just happens to be that the REST of the Rockets are playing better than REST of the Blazers.

I'll agree with you on that one. Guys like Scola/Landy/Lowry/Wafer/Battier are severely outplaying our Outlaw/Blake/Joel/Sergio/Nicolas etc. That's a really depressing part since I thought our depth was much more superior than Houston's, but your guys' role players are stepping up big time while ours are wilting under the playoff pressure.

the charge scola drew on roy had nothing to do with anything that happened earlier in the game(or later) and was entirely steve blake's fault. roy shouldn't have gotten the pass in that situation and had no choice but to commit the charging foul.

I've got to figure out how to block Nate's avatar- I'd hate for someone to look over my shoulder and see that... Is there any way to block the pic short of an ignore?

If Spain had a larger population than China then the Blazers would get some calls. Facts are facts.

But how do you create the choices? Do you simply write them in the text?

It tells you. Don't put the choices in the thread. Just check the box for the poll and click on Submit Thread. It will lead you through it.

is yao being from china some new development? how could the nba have not made sure that the rockets would advance further the past few years? and why isn't yi's team in the playoffs?

Reffing did not decided the game in the last few minutes. If the Blazers had executed down the stretch in the last 4 minutes or so, they could've won. There were some key possesions where I thought they could've taken better shots. Why did Outlaw get the 3 at the end? I thought they should've gotten it to Roy on a pick and roll or something. But again, reffing didn't change anything the Blazers could've done at the end.

I think the biggest thing that irritates me is the physicality of Artest Roy and Battier on each other. They're grabbing and pushing and shoving and having elbows and arms all up in each other just to get position...

Then Greg and Joel do that w/Yao and vice versa, and our guys get called. Seriously, re-watch and analyze, it's terribly inconsistent. Also we would have won this game too, b/c Scola's buzzer beater didn't actually get off in time..

OH, but you know, the Ref's never had to look at that on the replay, nope, they saved that for Brandon Roy's three pointer......sigh

it's impossible to say what would have happened if two points were taken from the rockets at an earlier point in the game.

and if i recall correctly, the refs can't review that. wasn't that the whole issue when finley hit that 3 to win a game after the shot clock expired? that the shot clock wasn't reviewable in that situation.
