Saw a nearly six feet tall 550 lb woman walking into the world's largest chevron today. She had to be over 50 too.

How do people get that heavy? It has to be primarily due to genetics.

I feel terrible about putting on 50 lbs. since I had to give up exercise. I miss everything about exercise which I love and preach. I felt great and looked great. It put me in a positive and good mood.

There's NO BETTER feeling than after a good workout after you've achieved a good level of fitness. I urge everyone to try it.

A noted psychologist once told me about a study by a major Ivy League university that concluded that there were four main characteristics of highly successful people -
1. Helping others. I look at this as mentoring. It's important that it not be part of your profession. This means that it has to be strictly voluntary;

2. Spirituality. For me, this means a belief in God but it can be something of the sort of the wonder at the stars or the atom or some such;

3. A life long pursuit of improved mental health. Even professionals in the field such as psychologists or psychiatrists, need to delve in this;

4. A life long pursuit of some form of healthy exercise.

5 years ago when I was pushing 500 lbs my mom and gramma were scheduled to come visit. Ahead of their visit I lost 30 lbs or so. Still weighing 430 or so I had to sit on a sturdy ottoman we had to put on my socks. Gramma asked me what I'd do if I couldn't put them on myself.

I said I'd go on a diet or eat a bullet.

5 years later I'm still just over 300. One of these days I'll get in the 200 range again. One of these days.

I do wonder about people that hit that tipping point and just give up.

Depression and poverty often plays a big part in that situation. Once you start to slide it can snowball really fast.

I agree on the poverty part. Fat is cheaper than good food.

There's also a ignorance of the consequences of eating that food that's an important component.

In poor countries the poor are skinny and the rich are fat. In rich countries the poor are fat and the rich are skinny. Eating healthy takes time and money. I have all sorts of toys in my kitchen that make cooking fun and easy, but they also add up to an insane amount of money. Also look up the term food desert. Cooking at home is cheaper when you have all the gear and small items you need and experience to do it well. If you don't then McDonalds really is cheaper.

I haven't seen any version of the story where the guy was physically attacking him first.

Read the transcript and try really, really hard to find any credible testimony or facts in evidence that suggest otherwise. Others have tried and failed.

I watched the video with a stopwatch. Less than 1 second passed from the time the gun was drawn and fired, and he began drawing the gun as the guy was towering over him about to finish him off. The attacker starts to back off as soon as he sees the gun coming out but everything is in motion by that time. Had there been no gun the attacker would have continued his attack, perhaps crippling or killing the victim.

I'd like to think my reflexes are quicker than the victim's, and maybe I'd notice him back up at the last half-second and hold my fire, but hindsight is golden.

Her boyfriend shoving the guy who complained was a dick move x 10
The shoved guy shooting the boyfriend was a dick move x 100
