For anyone thinking Israel is showing restraint and only targeting Hamas

Funny, the Palestinians in the West Bank don't lob rockets, what do they get for their good behavior? More Jewish settlements.

Yeah! The horror of having Jews live on your land! And Palestinians are all outlawed from Israel!...oh, wait...they have the same rights as Israeli citizens.

Bottom line, Palestinians on the Israeli side of the border are treated better than Israelis on the Palestinian side of the border.

And if the good people in the West Bank want their own country, just acknowledge that Israel has a right to exist.

And when are all of us non-Natitve Americans going to leave America? In retrospect, it would have been better to choose a different location in 1948, but that's ancient history now. The Palestinians were not kicked out, most left to not mix with the Jews. And still 20% of the people in Israel are of Arab decent, over 1.6 million. After the 6 day war when Israel was attacked on all sides by Egypt, Syria, Jordan and Iraq, but ended up fighting them off and even annexing territory to assure more future security, they offered the Palestinians within full Israel citizenship, but most refused since they wouldn't recognize Israel.

Asking Israel to leave now is like asking Americans to leave now. So the solution better be a damned bit better than that.

It's more fundamental than that. Israel is the Jewish homeland. It's the Palestinians who play the role of non-native Americans in your example. The Jews are the natives.

I know, but I just trying to keep it from being a circular argument.

Just in case you were wondering about the motivations of each side, there was a 72 hour humanitarian cease fire negotiated between the two sides, which lasted two hours.

Gee, which side could have violated it? It's a mystery.

Hamas wants conflict. It wants Palestinian casualties.

At this point, the best possible move would be for Fatah to formally declare Hamas an enemy of the Palestinian people and request that the UN and the IDF help to root them out of Gaza.

I agree with this entirely.

Still rehashing old talking points that this is a war against Hamas? Come up with something original and valid for once, guy.

U.N. report accuses Israeli forces of using Palestinian children as human shields, abusing children in custody http://www.cbsnews.com/news/un-repo...as-human-shields-abusing-children-in-custody/

A United Nations committee focused on youth rights accused Israel Thursday of failing to stop the mistreatment of Palestinian children in military and police custody.

The group's report accuses Israeli forces of using Palestinian children as human shields, and alleges that detained children in some cases face torture, solitary confinement and threats of sexual assault.

Assembled by the U.N. Committee on the Rights of the Child, the 21-page document comes three months after a UNICEF paper criticized the "systematic and institutionalized" mistreatment of Palestinian children detained by the Israeli military.

Did the Israelis disarm the suicide bomber vests those children were wearing first?

Before 3 Israeli teens were killed, 2 Palestinian teens were murdered in cold blood http://www.adsagainstapartheid.com/...d-2-palestinian-teens-suffered-the-same-fate/

Before Israel’s Prime Minister called for “revenge” – before there were three dead Israeli teens, and before there were three kidnapped Israeli teens…there were two dead Palestinian teens.

Nadim Nuwara, 17 years old, was murdered in cold blood – his limp body laid lifeless on the concrete ground of occupied Palestine. His school books were red from his blood.

It was May 15, 2014. Nadim was walking and was unarmed when an American-made bullet pierced his body. One hour later, 16 year old Muhammad Abu al-Thahir – also walking and also unarmed – succumbed to the same fate.

An Israeli soldier fired the shots that killed the two Palestinian teens.

The incident should have passed as it normally does: Palestinians express outrage, Israel proclaims the soldier fired in self-defense…and thus the lives of Palestinians under Israeli occupation continues.

But, it could have been different this time: the killings were caught on video.

It should have been different this time, as it had been with the beating of Don King in L.A. In 1992, riots broke out after a video surfaced showing the brutal police beating of a black man.

A local Palestinian camera bore witness to the non-aggressive nature by which these teens carried themselves moments before their death. The camera captured the violent and sad deaths that fell upon them.

Hamas should comply so that Gaza goes back to an occupied state restricting flow of food, water and medications?

Thank you for admitting you support Hamas. Unlike you, I wish to end the suffering and death of the Palestinians. You want to use their dead bodies as PR. Got it.

Meanwhile, journalists are being threatened for reporting the truth about Hamas.

Barbati then tweeted the following in Italian and English: “Out of Gaza far from Hamas retaliation: Misfired rocket killed children [yesterday] in Shati.

Witness: militants rushed and cleared debris.”

He followed that tweet with another: “@IDFSpokesperson said truth in communique released yesterday about Shati camp massacre. It was not Israel behind it.”

The Wall Street Journal’s Middle East correspondent based in Egypt, Tamer El-Ghobashy, tweeted a photo of rubble with the explanation: “An outside wall on the campus of Gaza’s main hospital was hit by a strike. Low level damage suggest Hamas misfire.”

Soon after, El-Ghobashy deleted the tweet, similar to his Wall Street Journal colleague Nick Casey, who tweeted a photo of a Hamas official using Shifa Hospital for media appearances last week and then deleted it.

(CNN) -- The conflict raging in Gaza is different this time.

While Hamas' rocket attacks and Israel's military actions may look familiar, they're taking place against a whole new backdrop.

"This is unprecedented in the history of the Arab-Israeli conflict," says CNN's Ali Younes, an analyst who has covered the region for decades. "Most Arab states are actively supporting Israel against the Palestinians -- and not even shy about it or doing it discreetly."

It's a "joint Arab-Israeli war consisting of Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia against other Arabs -- the Palestinians as represented by Hamas."

As the New York Times put it, "Arab leaders, viewing Hamas as worse than Israel, stay silent."

One of the outcomes of the fighting will likely be "the end of the old Arab alliance system that has, even nominally, supported the Palestinians and their goal of establishing a Palestinian state," Younes says.

"The Israel-Hamas conflict has laid bare the new divides of the Middle East," says Danielle Pletka, vice president of foreign and defense policy studies at the American Enterprise Institute. "It's no longer the Muslims against the Jews. Now it's the extremists -- the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas, Hezbollah, and their backers Iran, Qatar and Turkey -- against Israel and the more moderate Muslims including Jordan, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia."

"It's a proxy war for control or dominance in the Middle East," says CNN's Fareed Zakaria.

So much for the excuse about 3 dead Jewish teenagers. This reporter finds 10 bodies of youth executed by Israeli soldiers, probably to kill all military-aged males in town. It's in the last 30 seconds of the video.

Reporter in buffer zone when Hamas fires rocket near him. Yet Hamas isn't firing from 'free' zones full of civilians.

The scene today outside the White House. Guy in the Marines hat gets punched and then spat upon.

Then the police have to escort the military member holding a US flag to safety. But really, Hamas is a peaceful group.

Imagine how much better things would be if we had the Jews settle in Northern Mexico instead of the middle east. Now they know how to build walls.

At most demonstrations and counter-demonstrations, police keep one side a block away from the other.

Just a month ago in a conservative demonstration somewhere (about some othe issue, not Israel), a left guy provoked the rightists, and was arrested for doing so. I read it but didn't commit the details to memory.

So this pro-Israel guy should have been arrested, but wasn't because the cops perceived him as on the conservative side.

Until Brad Pitt shows up, distracts the Israeli leader, and then zombie ladders ensue.
