2. The trade exception they got for Lamar Odom.

The "former UNC" part is important too - Kupchak is a supposedly fanatically loyal ex-Tarheel.

Rule #1: never trade with the lakers. it'll bite us in the ass later. you know it will. he'll have a career game in an elimination game in the playoffs where he knocks down 10 3 pointers in the 4th quarter or something.

Each of these have more potential value to the Blazers than Felton. If it were actually offered, I'd do that before Kupchak sobered up.

When have we ever traded with the Lakers? (Besides, we don't NEED to trade with them - Blakey went there of his own volition and had his best game in two years against us last time.)

That story is several days old and nothing has happened. I'd say that it's a lot more likely that the Lakers will make a play for Kirk Hinrich.

No trades are probably going to happen till the deadline. Just because it hasn't happened, doesn't mean it won't.

Will the Lakers use their trade exception? It would cost them double whatever they take in because of the luxury tax. It would be a good indication of how serious they are at getting Kobe another ring. That trade exception could probably score them somebody pretty damn good in the current climate. (But then of course they have it because they dumped someone pretty good. Who then went to shit.)

The Blazers aren't making the playoffs, so that's a non-risk.

The Lakers seem to have a hard on for current/past Blazer PGs with single digit PERs. If they offer us ANYTHING for Felton, I'd do it. Fuck, I'd take a second round pick for him. Of course, they'd need to use the TPE to make that work. So, it clears a roster spot for us. I'm not a Patty Mills fan, but he's better than Felton. Worst case, we jettison Felton and sign Mills. Not the greatest move around, but it gets rid of our worst player, doesn't really hurt our on court performance and keeps the Lakers from using their TPE on someone who might actually help them win more games.

If we could trade them Felton for their first rounder, I would do it in a heartbeat. They are over cap though, so it wouldn't happen.
