When was the last time somebody from the Knicks contacted you?

FW: Almost never. I have barely been in touch with them. They contacted my agent directly.

Are you happy with the way your career has gone or were you expecting a little bit more?

FW: The problem has been that the one serious injury I've had it was much more serious that I expected. Now I'm better and I feel ready to keep playing seven or eight more years like this.</div>

I liked Weiss, but I seem to recall he had familial issues (a sick father maybe?) followed by injury. I don't think the poster had much to do with it, but I'm sure it bares a subconscious reminder to everyon in the league. I thought Weiss had an up-side and all, but I thought the real loss from that draft was Aleksander Radojevic. I remember on draft night those were the two real enigmas. They were both NBA busts though. Well, at least that's a couple of mysteries solved.
It seems like a few pretty decent centers from around that time have just sort of fizzled. I remember thinking Mamadou N'Daiye was going to be the next Dikembe Mutombo. I wonder if there is such an outcry for quality big men now that the league isn't really taking the time to develop mediocre big men. It seems like starting around that time, there began an onslaught of big man flops.
This occured to me because Primos Brezec was drafted either right after N'Daiye or close after, and he didn't have his first good season until last year. Radojevic and Weiss were in the next year's draft. Maybe guys are just getting left behind in search of a new potential big man.
Others coming to mind are: Ousmanne Cisse, Wang Zhi Zhi, Cal Bowdler, Tim Young, Desagna Diop (we'll see this year), the three aforementioned.
(At my own concession N'Daiye stuck around the league and is currently a free agent, but still...)

I saw him play in some Eurobasket games, and he's fairly decent. Has a decent post game, decent on the boards, but he's as slow as hell.

That is completely untrue, most posters here in the Knicks forum follow the NBA very closely.

We had Houston and Sprewell, obviously they weren't going to draft Artest, they needed a center badly with Ewing being gone...so what do you expect?

98% of this forum only seen this guy get teabagged by Vince Carter, thats it really, most of us don't even know what his game is like, its worthless debating about this unknown baller or talking about him.

I know about him and how he played - he wasn't tough enough physically or mentally for the NBA. Artest was considered a great future SF, tough and hard-nosed (what NY loves). Instead we go with a weakling five.

It's just a very stupid pick, everyone knew that even if Weis came to NY he wouldn't be much. The entire crowd was rooting for Artest like mad, then we picked Weis and angry chants started to arise - that's how it went down.
It was stupid, but yes - let's move on.
