After how bad he was early in his career, and not watching much of him since, I can't wrap my head around ah-Capela being worth anything more than a minimum contract.

I'm not sure what the Hawks wanted back from the Cavs but apparently they offered them the #3 pick if they took Bazemore off their hands. My guess is it would have been for the #8 pick and to make the top-10 protected the Cavs owe the Hawks unprotected next year. I'm surprised they didn't make the Mavs take some salary back too in the Doncic trade.

If they are looking to dump salary, they have a bunch of picks to attach.

It's not about worth, it's about leverage.

I know Capela's been crazy effective in D'Antoni's system, I just can't come to grips with him being as good as the stats indicate. D'Antoni is a "system" guru, and I can't help but feel that any number of players would look just as good in the role.

Let's go get David Nwaba ppl! He's a SG & SF; he's 6'4" (wish he was a lil' taller BUT he's good AND cheap!). He's 25 years old & made $1,744,951 his last contract. Neil... GO GET HIM!:smiley-yippee: IF we got him, we'd improve our guard defense tremendously (him + Baldwin!:smiley-yay:) & then trade CJ for a really good SF & a good enough PF (just a really good SF outta the CJ deal would make me happy enough:wink:)! IF we got a good SF... Nwaba could split time there & @ SG & we'd strengthen 2 areas of extreme weakness!:blazerwookie::blazerwookie:

Denver has agreed to send Kenneth Faried, Darrell Arthur, a 2019 protected first-round pick and a future second round pick to Nets for Isaiah Whitehead, league sources tell ESPN. Salary dump for Denver.

Something else has to be involved, Brooklyn doesn't have the cap space to make this move and Whitehead only makes a non-guaranteed $1.544 million

I was wondering if Brooklyn had the space. Interesting move by Denver to dump Faried and Arthur...they are going to waive Whitehead once the deal goes through

Faried and Arthur make over $21 million. They had $99 million in salaries already. I don't think dumping Lin accounts for a $20 million difference between those two and Whitehead.

LOL, ESPN Trade Machine is already updated so I can't run it.

Lin traded to Hawks creating space.

Neil is sleeping. We coulda done something for that pick

Lin being traded to Atlanta still isn't enough salary. Besides how exactly was Olshey supposed to take on over $21 million in salary?
Is the Davis deal official? maybe they're doing that with the MLE after making the DEN trade

Something is up. Nets sign Easy Ed, now take on Faried and Arthur, all PF's. Maybe Arthur gets waived. Faried and Ed help the Nets frontcourt, but what the heck is going on in Brooklyn? I guess they are taking on those expiring contracts to make room for the so-called mega year next season for free agency talent.

That's kind of bullshit. Harris agreed to his deal on day 1 of free agency but they allow him to wait 11 days to sign it so the Nets can get more trades in? It would be different if they had this deal done at the end of the moratorium and simply shuffled around the order of the transactions.

Oh and to you @yuyuza1 and @Scalma, since they used cap space this was impossible for the Blazers to do so I don't get the Olshey sleeping comments.

Olshey is sleeping because he’s sleeping. He hasn’t done SHIIIIIIIIIT. And he’s gonna get away with it AGAIN.

Last year we lost Crabbe and never replaced him. Just gave Connaughton a rotation spot by default.

Same thing is gonna happen this year with Layman or Biggie

If they are looking for someone to get them over the top no one traded today is capable of that.

I feel like the Nets are just the NBA’s dumping ground for bad contracts and players nobody else is willing to take on.

they're being smart. 2 first round picks next season and 2 max slots in NY market. That's a huge draw

And Olshey did the same thing the year they had cap space to do so. Unfortunately the best Portland's market could do was Evan Turner and re-signing his own players.
