I have no interest in the timing of your question....Joe would probably say, when the season tips off or when I'm damned good and ready. I know a large contingency of forum members are junkies for topics of controversy and it fuels all the speculation around here but for once..chill and listen to the new guys...being an asshole doesn't make Stephen A Smith a good reporter or Skip Bayless. That's why it's so important for these "journalists" to ask pertinent questions when they get a chance. I don't think most GMs give a lot of access to reporters in uncontrolled environments and that's why they should get hit with obvious questions that they haven't addressed, in these very rare pressers.

New York is a revolving door for coaches and players and there's a big reason nobody wants to play there anymore..I forget how many teammates and coaches Melo said he had with the Knicks but they never built an identity since John Starks played there....they are a horrible harpie shrieking media zone....I want no part of that circus around the Blazers....and in New York that hasn't translated to either loyalty, stability or success...scientific method says it works against the team. They have a dozen Stephen A Smith's trying to out heckle each other there....you think that better than what we have here? There are lots of things that the hard cap prevents us from doing, but dealing for KD isn't one of them. You saw what they asked for from Minny. There is no permutation of Blazer assets that would equate to Brooklyn accepting a KD-to-Portland trade, hard cap or not.
Why would asking Joe (when he'll probably never be damned good and ready) to answer questions about the hard cap, the luxury tax and some follow ups about the size of our roster be considered being an asshole. The "journalists" don't have to sensationalize the topic they're asking about, they can do it politely, they don't have to scream and yell like TV personalities. What they should do is think about what the public would want them to report on and take advantage of any opportunity they get to glean information on topics of public interest. Do you get the difference between good journalism and shilling?

Sure...so you get the difference between an introductory media session and a media session discussing firing a GM? Timing......and showing some respect to the new players matters..you can actually write to the team yourself on their hompage and express your disappointments or ask your questions. I think fishing for holes in their game plan is a waste of time personally ..and for the record....I'm not a fan of most Portland sports coverage at all...not a lot of talent in that group from what I've seen....I trust Casey for updates more than any of the others. He answers any questions I have pretty much when he can. I don't trust the youtube crowd to be the voice of reason though and they're a loud crowd
Regardless, the hard cap should have been asked about. The luxury tax should have been asked about. This definitely felt like Joe addressing the media about his offseason moves and I think both of those things fall well under the purview of offseason moves. I also think there should have been some followup questions about roster construction, especially the lack of size on the roster. Those definitely aren't dickish questions and wouldn't have to come across as accusatory or critical but it wouldn't be bad journalism if they did. Honestly I think they were basic due diligence that for some reason the people covering our team consistently neglect.

I actually don't see any difference from a journalistic standpoint. Their job is to inform the people. This press conference was not only to introduce these players but Joe also made it about recapping the offseason. So why would there be a reasonable expectation that there would be another time to ask about the hard cap, ask about the luxury tax or ask about Bledsoe's contract being stretched? These guys can email Joe all they want but that likely won't get an answer and if it does, it doesn't happen in front of the public.
I don't have a problem with Joe getting flamed. I actually like the way he's addressed everything. I don't think the reporters there asking questions should be concerned with how they'll make Joe look as long as they ask them respectfully. I get why Joe wouldn't want the questions asked, I just don't get why they weren't asked.
Do you honestly think they will have another? I mean, if that press conference has been set up and the reporters know about it, then this all makes sense. I just seriously doubt they're planning on having that presser.
