Good points. I assumed public school. But yeah, if I had it to do over I'd probably opt for private school if possible. Public schools are only getting worse.

It's really sad. Both my parents were public school teachers and great ones. Since graduating and them retiring, my hometown school has really regressed.

Looks like he was already prohibited from owning guns. So his girlfriend (mother of his 3 kids) bought them for him.

There is always a loophole for motivated people...

As long as they have the freedom and ability to kill me and my coworkers, that’s all that matters though right. Oh well.

They'll have the ability regardless of the right.

This doesn't get better until we start making a massive effort to help more people avoid sliding into a situation that results in them wanting to kill other people.
 
I've made my feelings known several times concerning social media, and though I have no way to quantify it, I think maybe it's partially to blame for many of the relatively recent shootings.

Nah, I’ll blame the guns. I’ll take my chance at somebody’s throwing social media at me before a bullet.
 
You missed the point...my comment pertains to the sometimes root reasons why people decide to kill someone in the first place. Social media is useful when used properly but some weak minded individuals can be easily swayed/motivated by negative shit on social media.

I don't own a hand gun, never have, don't see the need for one...though I do have 2 hunting rifles and 2 shotguns.

Examples of what happens when people who want guns can't get mass produced guns. Tens of Millions if garages in the US have better tools than it takes to make these.

Hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of US garages have CNC controlled machines that can make these far faster and far better.

There is no correlation between guns per person and violent crime or murder rates.

There is no correlation between strict gun control with violent crime and murder rates.

Here you'll see that while the UK has far lower rates of guns per household and far lower rates of gun ownership than Sweden, Switzerland, and Norway violent crime and murder rates are as good or far better in the latter 3 than the UK.

It's fairly close with Sweden. Sweden has around 1.1-1.2 per 100k while the UK has 1-1.1 or so.

Switzerland is around 0.5-0.6 (similar to Norway), and both countries have more guns per capita than Sweden. And far more than the UK.

And as an extreme example the UK has around the same number of guns per capita as Russia (where guns are virtually illegal aside from single shot hunting rifles). Russia, which has around 4 times the violent crime and murder rates as we do in the US.

The Czech Republic has had "shall issue" concealed carry for 30 years and has far more guns per capita than the UK, yet far lower homicide rates than the UK.

HCP, I firmly support your right for you to protect your family from harm the way you want. Wish I knew a better final option than guns, but I don't. Plus blaming guns as the cause of violence is the same as blaming keyboards as the cause of spelling errors.

Something happened at my home last night, Halloween, that shows how dangerous and unpredictable our world has become.

4 teenagers, about 14 years old, rang the bell trick or treating. Something did not look right on the security cameras, so I answered the door.

The 3 boys looked like zombies, but not in Halloween sort of way, I suspected heavy drug altered minds, even though they never said a word the entire time. The girl also appeared to be heavily drugged. She pulled out a knife and started swinging it over her head. Her exact words where.

"I am not going to kill you, I use this knife to blow bubbles".

Thankfully they finally left, I did not draw my CC, but was very glad I had one on me, and that the entire event was captured on cameras.

My point is, the world is rapidly becoming a more dangerous place. More and more bad things happen to good people without warning. CC with proper training is a final option that makes me feel safer.

I'm glad things didn't escalate.
 
Ive been a gun owner for 60 years and have never used it in a threatening way. I still have my grandfathers 30/30 model 94 he gave me when I was 13, he had it for many years and never threatened or used it irresponsibly. I had to take under safety at 12 in order to hunt with a rifle.

It's almost like making these gun control arguments just sells more guns... more money for everyone!

Somehow I doubt that's what's going on here.

Edit: at least, I don't see any car dealerships offering free abortions with every car purchase...
