I was "bullied" in school by a couple of kids during my first year in America. Near the end of the school year, I put a stop to that (paid the price for it, so the bullies did sort of win). But there was a kid from 8th grade that was badly bullied. He didn't seem to have any friends and was really quiet. During lunch, kids would be flinging food at him and were just nasty to him. Saw he was harassed and even beaten up a few times when I was walking home from school. Apparently, they thought he was gay and that creeped them out enough for them to punish him. By HS I'd heard that he'd committed suicide. I've thought about what I could've done for him. I barely spoke any English at the time and was just trying to fit in, so didn't want to involve myself with any trouble. But fuck it, I should've stepped in when those kids were beating him up.
