Honestly. You are one of my favorite posters ever. This ain’t the day to even come close to defending gunsOther countries do have higher violent crime and murder rates than the US... even with guns being severely restricted. The number of guns doesn't correlate with violence and murder. But that is beside the point, because the 2nd amendment isn't going to be restricted for at least decades in this country. And even if that happened, it would take many decades to limit the number of guns enough that criminals couldn't get them... we're talking a 75-100 years in the future, optimistically.
I feel the same way about this dude…… but he does this every two weeks when there is a mass shooting of innocent people.Honestly. You are one of my favorite posters ever. This ain’t the day to even come close to defending guns
Yeah, I saw that on Wikipedia the other day. Really something but I don't think it really relates to today's mass killings. Idk.I found this to be informative. Not about Grandmother's, though I feel the same as you, but about these things in general.

It's clear they also didn't want women to vote and valued blacks as less than a full person. Why is it were able to make changes to their backwards thinking on some things, but on others, we go off of the thinking of guys from 250 years ago and seem to deem them infallible. Fuck what they wanted if times change and change is warranted. It seems pretty clear to me that the founding fathers intended the population to be a well regulated militia (meaning capable non-regular infantry).
There's still slavery in the world today, but that's probably a topic for another thread. It's clear they also didn't want women to vote and valued blacks as less than a full person. I appreciate that. And I feel the same way.Honestly. You are one of my favorite posters ever. This ain’t the day to even come close to defending guns
Because in one respect we're following morals, expanding people's rights while furthering equality, and in the other you're suggesting following a political theory to restrict people's rights, limiting equality. It's clear they also didn't want women to vote and valued blacks as less than a full person. Don't blame movies and video games. Come on.All this killing out if rage in since less and evil.
These school shootings to the guy running over kids in Wisconsin, it all crazy evil.
When you consider how lacks we are with control and movies and games of violence is it any wonder?
I'd love to actually get people discussing policies which actually have a chance to save some lives. But that's not going to happen until we discussion the policies people want to discuss...
So again, I'm always open to to the conversation. When something like this happens it bothers me as much as it bothers any of you. And I'd like to see efforts made to stop these things.
I just don't understand why people insist on focusing on things which cannot happen.
So you want this thread to just be "thoughts and prayers" rather than discussions about solutions?I feel the same way about this dude…… but he does this every two weeks when there is a mass shooting of innocent people.
That wouldn't work. And it's not going to happen in our lifetimes. We have far more effective means available to us.The only policy that would work is, sadly, a repeal of the Second Amendment.
Such as?That wouldn't work. And it's not going to happen in our lifetimes. We have far more effective means available to us.

Sure, protecting your children is moral. Does that make segregation ok? Your kids in a nice white rich neighborhood school are probably safer than in an inner city school...What about morals in protecting our children? Is there no moral there?
Increased access to education, healthcare, and improved social safety net would save and improve far more lives than any gun control.Such as?
Not totaDon't blame movies and video games. Come on.
I don’t completely, mostly lack of gun control.Don't blame movies and video games. Come on.
Again, the difference is those were expanding rights, not restricting them.Blasphemy, I know, but the Constitution isn't perfect.
To me, the two obvious flaws are the Second Amendment and the Electoral College. The other MAJOR flaw took a civil war and the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments to fix. It was not designed for easy changes.
Any idea in what would cause a young person To do such a horrendous act?Don't blame movies and video games. Come on.
No. But I've watched plenty of violent movies, and enjoy violent video games. I haven't gone in a killing spree.Any idea in what would cause a young person To do such a horrendous act?

So should we promote segregation in the name of our children as well?
Kids are 20x more likely to be killed by their parents than by a gun at school.
What are you willing to do to protect those children?
Desperation. Being socially ostracized. Possibly just being a psychopath/sociopath.Any idea in what would cause a young person To do such a horrendous act?
why not?...anything that glorifies killing as a thrill ride and adrenaline rush has an impact on an impressionable young person...not everyone can control impulses the way you may be able too but that doesn't mean playing games where killing is the object doesn't promote killing in mass fashion....in those games you don't just kill one enemy..you kill over and over and over....to say it doesn't impact people on the edge of psychosis is to ignore a problem or possible cause or influence..I think extreme violence as entertainment has had a cultural impact on society. The internet sure has..it's also dehumanized and depersonalized a lot of young relationships and replaced those things with isolated aggression in some cases. I've lived in countries where you can't buy guns or ammo and it's great...much, much, much safer and they don't have 20 elementary kids getting gunned down by teenagers with assault weapons. Fuck our gun laws...they fail us and more importantly innocent people and children...if a video game had you raping over and over and over to win it'd be outlawed but go ahead and kill all the people and monsters you want. Sure not my idea of a good time. When I used to drink I was a happy drunk...my younger brother was a mean drunk who'd look for a fight everytime....The world would still be safer without drunk people period.Don't blame movies and video games. Come on.
I thought I was being pretty clear. Gun control is racist by nature. It restricts poor and minorities far more than it restricts rich whites. This puts the poor and minorities at a greater disadvantage, and is why Reagan originally supported gun control in California. What the hell are you talking about? Segregation? You know I am against such things. What does that have to do with anything?
