This right here is my biggest problem with politics. So since there is no perfect solution let's continue to do nothing.
Lol, if your solution is to put my family at the mercy of police who prevent help from getting to them when they are in need the far better solution is to arm oneself and support rights which make that acceptable. So since there is no perfect solution let's continue to do nothing.
And wonder why other countries don't have this problem. Maybe something in the water?
Yes, people refusing to look at actionable options because their team wants to take rights from others. This right here is my biggest problem with politics.
Arm teachers. Or how about police don't stand outside as kids are being killed. So since there is no perfect solution let's continue to do nothing.

A major Republican talking point right now is for every school to have their own cops on site. They use various massacre examples of how it would have been so much worse if a school cop hadn't been present in those situations (like ANY deaths are okay just so long as the total doesn't get out of hand). The Uvalde school cop who utterly failed to perform is the best argument against schools having there own cops. Look at all the cops who came to the scene.....and then stood around with their fingers up their asses. The idea of more cops as a "solution" is about as insane as the idea of more guns as a "solution". All the cops in the world won't help if they are too chickenshit to do the job they walked into with eyes wide open.....and for which they are paid. Every one of those officers had guns. Fat lotta good it did.......Why the fuck didn't he shoot him? He had a gun out. At the school! It's his job.
I'm not asking them to be cops. I'm asking for them to have the right to arm and defend themselves at schools if they meet strict qualifications.Teachers have to teach, handle social problems, medical emergencies, abuse and neglect. Don't ask them to also be cops.
This is why the teachers should be allowed to arm themselves in their classrooms. In fact, give them free training and a generous tax free stipend if they choose to do so.A major Republican talking point right now is for every school to have their own cops on site. Nope. 100% gun confiscation. Period. Amen. And when that has been accomplished, severely restrict police access to firearms, as they should rarely be required. Time for a 180 degree approach to a problem that is only getting worse. With everything else the right wants to take away from us, why wouldn't they get behind this?? The time for so called "rational" discussion is long past. Prayers and platitudes are proven ineffective time and time again. Maybe it's time this country grew up and moved away from 18th century thinking........This is why the teachers should be allowed to arm themselves in their classrooms. The incentives for police are all wrong. Cover your ass and right the reports and everything will be fine. Fuck those kids.
A teach in the classroom would be defending themselves as well.
Never happen. That's how you get civil war. 70% of the population wants guns.Nope. 100% gun confiscation. Period. Amen. I trust teachers just fine. In fact, I've already said they are drastically underpaid.I find it funny that a large portion of the population is for arming teachers but that same group doesn't trust teachers to pick out appropriate books for teaching or libraries. Trust a teacher with a gun, but don't trust teachers with the curriculum
Good points, except.......this country is already well on it's way to civil war AND authoritarianism. The choice is whether you want liberal authoritarianism or conservative authoritarianism. Currently we're trending towards the latter. And the right has all the guns. If that doesn't scare the shit outta the average American, then we have finally become too stupid to exist as a country any longer. I mean c'mon, our choice seems to be take away guns and have a civil war, or keep guns and have a civil war. That's a corner we have deliberately backed ourselves into.Never happen. That's how you get civil war. 70% of the population wants guns.
Choosing gun confiscation is choosing to do exactly nothing.
Or you're choosing authoritarianism, which is what would have to happen to even start confiscating guns.
Authoritarianism can't happen when the population has over 400 million guns. Many on the left have guns. Many on the left end up voting right partially because the left keeps coming after guns.Good points, except.......this country is already well on it's way to civil war AND authoritarianism. My wife and I know 2 current teachers that (guy & gal) that are armed in the same same school. Outside of Portland.I'm not asking them to be cops. I'm asking for them to have the right to arm and defend themselves at schools if they meet strict qualifications.
In fact, give them a $10k per year tax free bonus for doing so. In fact, teachers should be paid far better anyway, just in general.
Let's not make them do all of that, in a gun free zone (a well known target) unarmed. Teachers should be allowed to arm themselves, and if they choose to do so we should cover all expenses related to that.
Awesome! Are they breaking rules to do it, or is there some way to do it legally? My wife and I know 2 current teachers that (guy & gal) that are armed in the same same school. Outside of Portland.
The district allows it from what I understand.Awesome! Are they breaking rules to do it, or is there some way to do it legally?
Incredible! That is awesome news. The district allows it from what I understand.
