Man accidentally shoots himself in leg while picking up child from Arlington school

An Arlington elementary school was under lockdown Thursday morning after a parent brought a gun onto school grounds and accidentally shot himself, police said.

Duff Elementary School was “placed on a brief lockdown,” which was quickly lifted, said Anita Foster, a spokesperson for Arlington school district, in an email to the Star-Telegram. “No threats were made to the school at any time and all students and staff remained safe during the lockdown.”

A report from KXAS-TV said the man was walking toward the front office of the school and was adjusting his pants when his gun, tucked into his waistband, discharged. The man’s leg and foot were wounded, said Tim Ciesco, a spokesperson for the Arlington Police Department. The man was taken to a local hospital, but is expected to survive.

Ciesco said that the father with the concealed gun was at the school to pick up a child and they don’t believe he had any malicious intent.

And one of Trump's first acts in office, after reinstating global gag rule, was to overturn an Obama era regulation that made it harder for people with known mental illness to acquire guns.
Just saw police officer interviewed, he said even trained officers can't always cope with mass shooters and it's insane to expect teachers to do so.
In Buffalo an armed security guard fired at the killer but couldn't penetrate his body armor. He ended up dead.

It took police over an hour to get inside... let's just make sure the schools lock the doors and there would be no mass shooting. There would be a guy trying to get in with guns while the office refused to open the door and called police.

Of course, if the police knew a shooter was outside they probably would have gotten lost on the way there for an hour or two...

The husband of one of the murdered teachers dropped dead of a heart attack while planning her funeral. They had four children. But they are already born so pro life party doesn't give a fuck.

Uvalde police are facing new criticism over first-hand accounts and videos showing them handcuffing and restraining frantic parents, who were urging them to storm the Robb Elementary school building amid the massacre.

'The police were doing nothing,' Angeli Rose Gomez told the Wall Street Journal. 'They were just standing outside the fence. They weren't going in there or running anywhere.'

Gomez has two children in second and third grade and she reportedly drove 40 miles to the school after hearing of the attack.

She was one of the desperate parents who encouraged police with increasing urgency to enter the school.

Eventually, federal marshals put Gomez in handcuffs and told her she was under arrest for intervening in an active investigation, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Gomez said she was able to convince a Uvalde officer whom she knew to have the marshal free her and she took the opportunity to move away from the crowd, jump the school fence, and ran inside the school where she rescued her children herself.

She said that other parents also trying to get to their kids were tackled and even pepper-sprayed by police.

Angel Garza, whose daughter was killed, was handcuffed after trying to run into the school when he heard that a 'girl called Amerie' had been shot.

Garza later told his heartbreaking story to Anderson Cooper.

He explained that when he arrived on the scene he tried to help a young girl covered in blood, because he is a trained medic.

The girl explained she wasn't hurt and the blood was from her best friend 'Amerie.' It was then that Angel realized the blood he was looking at came from his own daughter.

He later found out that she was among those who died.

Javier Cazares' fourth grade daughter Jacklyn Cazares was also killed in the attack.

Cazares told the Associated Press that he raced to the school when he heard about the shooting, arriving while police were still gathered outside the building.

Upset that police were not moving in, he raised the idea of charging into the school with several other bystanders.

'Let's just rush in because the cops aren't doing anything like they are supposed to,' he said. 'More could have been done.'

'They were unprepared,' he added.

One shocking video shows officers holding some parents back as they tried to get inside.

The footage shows a parent being pinned to the ground by an officer, while another carrying a taser stands guard nearby.

Other footages shows parents begging the cops: 'What are you doing!? Get inside the building!'

Another woman could be heard to say 'They're trapped inside' as howls of pained anguish rang out in the background.

How do you figure conservatives have some beef with these people’s children? How did you manage to turn this into an abortion argument?

Well I agree that we need to fund healthcare better, including mental health. That's certainly part of the problem.

Now turn this on them. Oh, mental health?

British media outlet tried to ask Ted Cruz why these mass shootings don't happen in other countries. He attacked Democrats. Because.
