Well, doesn't that sound like the voice of progress...

It's already broken. You're just so used to it being broken you don't even notice.
Shooting a 2nd free throw is broken? What?

I think in that sort of a critical point they'd opt for a minute extension. Maybe two.

Right now we slog through hundreds of these long reviews, most of which are easy to decide and not life-or-death. I'm simply proposing we allow refs the time to review critical, really iffy calls carefully like they already do, but fast forward through all the rest.
Yet, basketball games are still shorter than football and baseball. A 2 minute review is fine. Dont see the need to always have something happening on court at all times.

I’d like to see them shorten how long dudes can molest the ball before tAking a free throw. I think the official rule is 10 seconds but it should be like 5 from when the ref gives you the ball and when they have to shoot and they should enforce it.

Yes! Also, why not do subs before the first one and then have the ref immediately pass the ball out of the net back to the shooter. That would barely take more than this new rule.

This just shows that the league thinks the fans are stupid.
The subject of speeding up games comes around every single offseason. How can we shorten the games? Make it more fan friendly? How about cutting some of the GD commercials to begin with. The teams don't need that much time. Coaches spend the first 2 minutes of each stoppage to stand on the court and diddle their assistant coaches until the horn sounds to tell teams to take the court. Which is precisely when they actually enter the huddle to coach up the team. Meanwhile, the second horn sounds and that's about the time the dancers and entertainment start to clean up their mess and get off the court. That's about when the refs holler at an assistant to warn them to take the court. Then there's the last minute individual discussions before tucking in their uni and walking (and I mean slowly) out to start play. Average time is probably around the 5 minute mark to squeeze in as many commercials as possible while a real timeout shouldn't last more than 2 minutes. If a coach can't get his point across in 2 minutes then the walkthrough was a waste of time.
TO's are just long enough to either fall asleep or forget you were watching basketball and flipped channels to avoid 19 car dealer commercials. They shouldn't be long enough to set up a metal cage, watch 3 monkeys do the death defying ball of loop d'loops on motorcycles and then dismantle everything, pick up the 12" thick pads and sweep and mop the floor...just one of many nightly commercial breaks.
The league acts like they give a rats a** but refuse to even address the most obvious answer to their yearly dilemma. Just one more way the league proves 82 times per year that it is a business and not a game.
