Game 1: Blazers vs Rockets - Game Thread

Didn't see this coming but don't be too down guys. Young team, first game jitters, and Houston was just determined to win this game. Brooks won't be this hot for the rest of the series.

Wow. I can't remember the last time we got beat like that anywhere, let alone at home. I hope they get angry. Somebody needs to. I hope Nate kicks the gatorade over. In any case, I expect a much better game on Tuesday.

I'm still proud of what they've done this year.

The reason you can't remember the last time we got beat like that is because we've never been beaten like that in 26 years of playoff appearences.

or at least bring him in off the bench. The Sergio experiment needs to end.

Guess you missed the last dozen games where we played better than ever, especially the bench run by Sergio and completely without Bayless?

But our problem is not the bench right now, our starters sucked and they sucked very badly at both ends, with only a few part-time efforts from a few players to mention. Only Joel, Rudy and Nic went all out on defense the limited minutes they were in.

Lineup changes aren't what we need.

We need to play the way we have been and the way we know we can, and I'm confident Nate will have gotten that message across by Tuesday.

Bake it!

Karma is bad and you should not tempt it. You should learn from certain members here who shit talked as the season was ending.

It is only one game, guys. Don't stress now.

I just didn't expect this bad of a blow out. It is okay, I think you'll rebound to make a series out of it.

I was expecting this all day. Just had a gut feeling the guys would come out with jitters. If we were on the road we would've been blown out by at least 50 points. Great learning experience for the guys.

Wow, I need to clear my head after this one. Just deflating to say the least.

I wonder if anyone who attended the game asked for a refund afterwards.

It's 1 game regardless.

Blazers are young, probably felt butterflies, didn't know how to play in the postseason.

I fully expect this to be a 6 or 7 game series.

Yay! Meaningless stat of the night.

It means we outscored the Rickets by 2 points during the 10:53 Sergio was in, so not meaningless at all.

It means he did his job.

If the Blake and Roy had also managed a +2 (instead of a combined -41) we would have won.

I'd be much happier if this Game 1 had been in Houston. But to lose at home like this, giving them full confidence for the rest of the series?

Ok, we're not going to win this series. Sorry, but we're just not, let's be realistic. However, we should try to put up as good a fight as we can.

#1. Channing Frye needs to keep his ass off the court! He's proven time and again over the regular season that he sucks, and Nate McMoron puts him in during a playoff games? I know he had nothing to lose, but let's not get THAT desperate.

#2. LaMarcus needs to step it up, he's really the only good match up we have. We have zero chance of competing unless he does well.

#3. Nate might need to consider changing the starting lineup. I think perhaps taking Batum and Joel out of the starting lineup. Maybe even starting Bayless...

It will be interesting to see what happens Tuesday, but I'm thinking this team will probably be swept. Not a nice way for the season to end.

If karma was real, Patriots wouldn't have won those championships.

So I don't believe in karma.

I know it's one game, but I hope this doesn't break the Blazers backs. We'll see what they're made of Tuesday.

It'll only be a six or seven game series if Joel gets over his pride and we front Yao and McMillan makes the appropriate adjustments.

This is why I wanted Greg to start and I know a lot of people don't agree with that. But Greg is almost as strong as Yao and wouldn't be opposed to playing a fronting defense, Greg actually has to be watched on offense (if simply because of his strength and size), and I feel Greg commands more attention on being boxed out and that frees up one of our men to get rebounds.

Well unless four of them stand there flat-footed and let a Houston guy get it like happened early in the 4th quarter.

Oh, karma is real. Week before Superbowl we find out that Patriots have been complete idiots and registered the trademark 19-0, and 19-0 The Perfect Season for book deals and marketing.

That bit them in the ass.

Also I don't believe they've won a championship since the cheating thing came to light but they did lose Brady for a year.

Nonsense, unfortunately, we've been beaten much worse many, many times.

Why, I remember a Playoff game in Utah where...:sigh:

This is just a pebble on the path to glory.

:crazy::biglaugh:

Stop. You're killing me.

Sergio managed a +2 against mostly the Rockets second and third string guys in the last six minutes of the 4th quarter. It has to be somewhat commendable considering he did it with Michael Ruffin and Channing Frye on the floor.

Man, playoff losses hurt SO much more than regular season losses. I forgot how painful they are. Very very painful.

I think we already know.

I saw no tears, no pouting, no excuses at the end.

They're already mentally correcting their mistakes.
