This team played worse but Dame is still a top level player in the league, CJ would still be in the running for sixth man of the year if he were playing his proper roll, Nurk is still going to be a really good center like he was in the bubble, RoCo is one of the best 3 and D guys in the league, DJJ was hitting threes and those of us who have been paying attention know what kind of defender and athlete he is, Gary is going to play close to as good as he did in the bubble, Hoodie should get better but he is an unknown, who knows how effective Melo will be but he could get buckets off the bench, Enes will get a bunch of boards and inside points off the bench and we'll see what we get from Zach when he gets back. This team is worse
At least the Nuggets got beat. Haha did you see how they got beat? That was great

The fact is this team is playing atrocious basketball but the talent is really good. That's not some glass half full shit, it's just a fact.
For those who didn't...
Good talent poorly coached will get run out of the gym.
Proper preparation prevents piss poor performance.
If we start really shaky I think Stotts get the heave ho
I think it would take an 0-10 start with double digit losses for that to happen... not saying that's impossible though!
From the way Hurd is talking it sounds like one or some of the players are pissed off.
He just needs to relax.Wasn’t elleby supposed to be a shooter?
For those who didn't...
Convington and DJJ 3-12 from the field as our starting 3/4 combo. Where have we seen that before?
This starting lineup / 2nd unit is all out of balance, as many people here predicted.
I bet all of the Nuggets fans are talking about not watching the rest of the season and how this is the worst team in the history of Denver basketball... or maybe they're not stupid.
Melo: The ball finds you if you want it
If the solution is to start Melo instead we might as well pack it up because there’s no chance we’re competing for a title.
Well, what would our % made on iso plays be then? For those (not me) who like to cite assists as a good indicator of ball & player movement, you should be happy tonight.
- 23 assists on 37 field goals - 62%
- 24 assists on 43 field goals - 56%
Honestly this is patently false. This isn't high school basketball it's the NBA. Talent wins the games and coaches can win or lose a handful throughout the season. If coaches are the cause of a handful of losses in a row those coaches get fired. It also needs to be remembered that these are the same coaches for the most part that have coached this team to the playoffs the last seven seasons. This game was terrible on every level but to think this is indicative of the way the entire season will go is asinine and so many in here are making that snap judgment.Good talent poorly coached will get run out of the gym.

I've never got the impression that this coaching staff is interested in conditioning.Well, that was an absolute clusterfuck. On defense we looked both lost and a step slow. On offense we couldn't throw a beach ball in the ocean and it looked like almost everyone had dead legs. Guys were fumbling balls away on both ends. No one and I mean no one seems in sync in any way. All of that is bad but I have one big fear about the early season.
Do any of you get the feeling that because this coaching staff was so hellbent on instituting these new defensive schemes, might they have neglected conditioning? I have never seen us miss so many shots off the front rim before and it's not like the shot after the one that hit the front rim for any of our guys hit the back rim... those hit the front rim again. Between the shooting and the slow movement on both ends I think not only is this team completely disconnected mentally because of psyching themselves with the talk of "all of the changes" (I just heard that a lot in all of the preseason interviews) but they're also out of shape.
Damn... I actually think for whatever reason Dame didn't even have his legs tonight. So disappointing but if anyone wants to make a snap judgment that this means we're going to miss the playoffs or some shit like that, be my guest. You're going to look stupid because the talent that's on this team is really good and talent wins in this league. Terrible terrible game but still... GO BLAZERS!!!
The only thing to say about this game was it was horrendous but it was only one game. The spin on TV tonight is rough. Brooke just called the play of the second unit a bright spot.
At who, though?
i can't believe they put Blevins on the actual team.
One take from this could be: Since we go against better defenders than ours, we need to work harder (and pass more) to get good shots. It's just a theory. That's a good question. I would have no doubt that Utah's was better because they can defend one on one much better than we can, which is our main problem.
