I've never got the impression that this coaching staff is interested in conditioning.
According to every report we've ever had from this training staffs training camps... until this season. The first week has always been dedicated to getting into shape. I can't be sure about the theory that the staff ignored conditioning this year it's just that everyone looked like they had dead legs tonight, in every way.

One take from this could be: Since we go against better defenders than ours, we need to work harder (and pass more) to get good shots. It's just a theory.

Always better to get as high quality shots as possible. I don't suspect offense is going to be our main issue this season. Defense, this new defense, on the other hand...

I'm not saying that this game isn't troubling for the immediate future, it potentially is. I am saying that anyone who thinks this team... with this collection of talent, is going to miss the playoffs is going to be wrong.

This team feels like it has Mike Schuler, PJ Carlisemo, Maurice Cheeks and Nate MacMillan written all over it.

You just listed the coaches of like 22 of our last 26 seasons (if you include Stotts).

"What talent? Olshey has given no personnel to Stotts. It would be a miracle if we got to 8th in the west. Stotts should get Coach of the Year consideration for that. He's doing the best with what he's been given." - Things the apologists say.

"The Blazers should win a title with 1 all-star" - Things said by people who haven't watched the last 30 seasons of the NBA.

as if maybe the franchise has had a lot of shitty coaches that they kept waaaaaaaaay too long.

False premise. You keep posting about titles. And, nobody is asking that.

They just expect better results. And, I think that's fair.

Please don't be disingenuous.

You're saying nobody has talked about winning a championship on here? The WCF was not good enough.

as if maybe the franchise has had a lot of shitty coaches that they kept waaaaaaaaay too long.

Does that mean they've had bad managment and therefore bad ownerhsip who has hired that managment?

Btw, you're forgetting Rick Adleman and Dunleavy in that list (tho both of them had their issues, I'd gladly take either one of those guys over Stotts. Even a drunken Adleman. )

Adleman hasn't coached in the last 26 years. Dunleavy coahed for 4 season. Therefore I said 22 of 26 seasons.

to a degree, yes. But also they're afraid of change. Maurice was kept on too long because of Natalie Gilbert, and Nate was kept on too long because he was "fixing" the Jail Blazer image.

This team played worse but Dame is still a top level player in the league, CJ would still be in the running for sixth man of the year if he were playing his proper roll, Nurk is still going to be a really good center like he was in the bubble, RoCo is one of the best 3 and D guys in the league, DJJ was hitting threes and those of us who have been paying attention know what kind of defender and athlete he is, Gary is going to play close to as good as he did in the bubble, Hoodie should get better but he is an unknown, who knows how effective Melo will be but he could get buckets off the bench, Enes will get a bunch of boards and inside points off the bench and we'll see what we get from Zach when he gets back.

The fact is this team is playing atrocious basketball but the talent is really good. That's not some glass half full shit, it's just a fact.

You are correct about Dame - everything else you said is dead wrong. This is the most embarassing, dysfunctional shit storm the Blazers have ever put on the court. The excuses and rationalizations may still work for you, but I can no longer stomach them.

I'm done. Been a fan since Petrie was a rookie, but I'm done. This is an inexcusable insult to every Blazer fan. I will become a baseball fan before I give this team another dime of my money or minute of my time.

I see. I guess I figured bringing up Schuler would've indicated to include Rick. My bad.

So the talent is Dame, CJ, Nurk, Zach all of which played major minutes on our team that went to WCF then you have RoCo who is one of the best 3 and D guys in the league, you have DJJ who is a freak athlete that showed at the beginning of the game tonight that he can hit the three, Gary who is a rising 3 and D talent, Enes who is limited but is a great rebounder and inside scorer, Hoodie who hopefully is going to get closer to his old self as he plays more and that's not mentioning the young guys who won't play like Ant, Nas and Giles. That's not just "no personnel" it's the roster that every national commentator called the deepest team in the league.

No worries my man... I can't believe RA hasn't coach Portland for 26 years... makes me feel OLD!

Not sure what is more annoying. The Blazers playing hero ball all night or listening to Kent and Hurd making excuses for them.

Kent and Hurd. By far, Kent and Hurd. I hate the schilling that the broadcasters do.

How they respond to this game will tell me a lot about them. They embarrassed themselves as a team tonight...Kanter had the best game in my view

His defense was horrible... Finished very well on offense though!

"No longer"? That shit is hilarious. We are 4 preseason games that meant nothing and one actual game into the season and you can take this "no longer"? The overreaction in here is alarming even for here. I realize that 2020 has been a rough year but most in here need to get a grip.

I think there’s some behind the scenes issues with this team. They have been blown out 3 straight games now. The team completely seems disengaged. Nobody is explaining to Melo how to play him and telling him to stop going iso. His job should be catch and shoot period. Nothing else.

This team is too good for 3 straight blow outs. I think there’s internal stuff that we will soon hear about.

I don't...if you have their job you're selling tickets and front in center for the Blazer media....if it's my team you're not going to have a microphone if you want to be Skip Bayless with it out there

One fucking game guys... one game. Get a grip!

If you know basketball you know it’s simply just not about one game. This team has issues going on. I think there’s some behind the scenes chemistry issues...
