It's not that we don't think they're good players, it's that a lot of us are smart enough to see how Russ is overrated, and his triple double coverage last year was annoying.I think the thing that bugs me about this place the most is the flat out hate a disrespect for other teams players. Why can't you guys show some respect for good ball players every now and then. It won't mean you are LESS of a Blazers fan.
Westbrook and PG are 2 of the best players in the league. I can understand not liking Russ (shit, if anybody on here actually had a reason it would be me, and my two encounters with him) but he is one of the most exciting players to watch today in the league. That 4th quarter was a blast to watch right? Back and fourth 3s, up and down.
Props to our guys for putting away a better team than us. We got a little help from the refs on the Melo play if you ask me. And on that note, please remember that play when freaking out about some call down the road. Whether you believe it or not, the calls do tend to even themselves out.
It's alright to give other teams players a little credit , yet preserve your pinwheel allegiance.
I typically agree with you but your take on this leaves me scratching my head. Melo could have made a move to the basket and scored. He didn't. Instead he made a move away from the basket and led with his elbow into Nurk's jaw. He sought out the contact and delivered a shot to the face. Not a basketball move; initiated contact; unnecessary.I guess. I think an offensive foul would have been fine, but whatever.

Says the dude who's a fan of OKC... A city that only got a team because of another cities hurricane combined. This blazers franchise will never be relevant

This comment makes me smile. I had to read it like 4 times and still could not quit smiling....Luck had nothing to do with Westbrook's 4th quarter play. That was vintage Westbrook. He consistently chokes away games in the 4th quarter. Two years ago, Durant's last season in OKC, the Blunder choked away 15 games where they led in the 4th quarter.
Think about that for a second...
You have a 4-time NBA scoring champ in the prime of his career and you cough up 15 4th quarter leads. How is that even possible?
Two words: Russell Westbrook. His resume is full of examples of freezing out his teammates in the 4th quarter of close games (especially Durant, no wonder he left), countless attempts at selfish hero ball, scores of unforced turnovers, stupid fouls and missed FTs.
If you were at all surprised by Westbrook's 4th quarter choke job, you must not have seen many OKC games. Last night was classic Westbrook. Nothing lucky or exceptional about it. It is who he is.

probably cause he is overdramatic and we know he isSo at least some of the OKC faithful think Nurk is one of the dirtiest players in the league? I would not have thought that. Why do they think that? Is he? Have I not been paying attention? Because I honestly haven't seen that. He likes to talk a lot, but I can't recall him taking a cheap shot at anyone. Do they think that based on his "we want to be bad boys" comment?![]()

I understand those who dont like him
Oh, sure. Nurk's cocky attitude would be super irritating if he were on another team. But one of the "dirtiest" players in the league? Where does that come from? Since I haven't seen it, I find myself questioning whether that's due to my homer goggles? Or theirs?probably cause he is overdramatic and we know he is

Flagrant Foul Penalty 2 When a player makes excessive contact with an extended elbow, that is deemed reckless or intentional, a Flagrant Foul 2 will be assessed.
When a player seeks out an opponent and throws an elbow which makes significant contact on any part of the body, regardless of where it lands, a Flagrant Foul Penalty 2 will be assessed.
When a player seeks out an opponent and throws an elbow which makes any contact above the shoulders, a Flagrant Foul Penalty 2 will be assessed.

I agree with you, hes not dirty player like Dray, but maybe OKC fans have different understanding of the word "dirty" in the sports term... I wouldnt call him "dirty" or "flopper", yes he is overdramatic, so Id call him "irritating", "douchebag" or other insulting termOh, sure. Stotts has the notebook of Westbrook's therapist, I swear to god, and he just takes a page and uses it against him. Remember when he switched Dame off of Russ and put Wes on him a few years ago, and Russ was all like "he afraid of me!" and proceeds to brick eight straight shots? Stotts made a huge show of making the defensive switch, but he was just grinning like a fool while Russ self destructed.
This won't be popular, but after getting a chance to watch the replay of the game this A.M. I don't think Melo should have been ejected. Flagrant 1 maybe, but to me it's just not clear he went head-hunting. It looked like he was trying to draw contact and make a circus shot.

He would have been ejected whether it's a flagrant 1 or 2. So in reality, it doesn't matter.

He could of had 3 blocks but they gave to Vonleh. Well actually they both block it together.Damn, I didn't even see the full stat line of nurk... yes, he had 5 turnovers, but:
25/8/3 with 3 steals and 2 blocks. Oh, and on 11/15 shooting.
They should give "half blocks" like they do with sacks in football. He could of had 3 blocks but they gave to Vonleh. Well actually they both block it together.

Exactly. Dude was already pissed off at the refs so that context matters. He could've had a dunk, and if not he should've went up with his body facing the basket and created contact with his right shoulder while finishing with his left, like most players do. Instead, he led with the ball and his elbows to Nurkic's face... Not natural at all. Flagrant 1 or Flagrant 2, it didn't matter. He already had a technical.Melo did that shit on purpose and almost got away with it. Clear lane to the basket, but Carmelo thought a circus shot with his back to the basket was a better idea? Naw, he seeked that contact out. Glad the refs didn't fall for it.
Do technical and flagrant 1 actually add up ? I thought it was 2 differents things
Lakerbron James Lakerbron James Lakerbron JamesJust don't say it out loud three times in a row.
