What site do you think has the best SOS measurement? How did you determine ours is one of the easiest?

http://www.espn.com/nba/stats/rpi/_/sort/SOS

https://www.teamrankings.com/nba/ranking/schedule-strength-by-other

http://powerrankingsguru.com/nba/strength-of-schedule.php

Of the first three that came up on a Google search, none of them have us in the top 10 of easiest schedules. Not saying your claim is wrong, just curious how you came to it.
SOS is a dumb stat. If we had a worse record, our SOS would be stronger because the teams we lost to would have one more win.

Agreed... especially with a small sample size, the wins greatly impact SOS. Most importantly, it can't really take player availability into account. A team that plays us today is playing a much easier team than thos who played us 2 weeks ago.

I always wonder how people this early in the season can say we have one of the hardest or easiest schedules. Are we basing it off past years? I hope it's not off the dreaded "eye test".

Just eyeballing it. SOS can't account for other teams missing their best players.

knicks are a really good defensive team, were without cj mccollum and nurk and this will be very, very tough game

we have to play defense this game, if we dont...

I remember the defense of the Knicks teams under Pat Riley. The obvious strategy was: foul like crazy on every defensive possession and the officials will only call a fraction of the fouls

that sure seems like a pretty random hook to hang your Blazer homer hat on

yes, there are only 6 teams with a better record; but there are 10 other teams either tied with Portland or within 1 game. And 7 of those teams are tied or within a half game. That's a cluster of 17 teams. Meanwhile, there are 17 teams with a better point differential; and there are 17 teams with a better net rating differential. Over 14 games, Portland has only played 4 teams with winning records, and only beat 1 of those teams. Portland's position at the top of the 11 also-rans appears more of a fluke of scheduling and lucky bounces than a function of playing better

maybe all of that just proves that at this stage there are only random hooks to hang homer hats on. Certainly, fans of teams like the Lakers, Clips, Jazz, Bucks, and 76ers have more reason to be happy. But random sure appears to be the controlling factor of this Covid season. Just about every team is taking turns blowing out 'better' teams one night, than getting blown out by 'worse' teams the next game. It's pretty much unpredictable from game to game for most of the teams in the league.
Could you be more half-glass empty? When we win the 2021 NBA Championship, you can tell me how we only have two titles and that more than the third of the league has won a championship in the last 30 years so it isn’t that impressive.

I love this! It's almost prophetic.

what is the difference between glass-half-empty like you accuse me of being and perpetually-pumping-sunshine like you do? Which side of the coin is closer to the reality of this Blazer team? All I was saying was that seeing anything meaningful in won/loss records at this stage, of this particular covid-impacted season, is kind of loopy; especially considering there are 11 teams within 1 game of each other.

half a dozen more games and we'll have a good idea of where this team will pan out. I think it's great they've had this 5 day mini training camp to tighten things up ...how we play the next 6 games should tell us what our bench will look like when CJ or Nurk get back

Rodney's going to step it up in the starting lineup.

Make up your mind, do you care about the standings or not?

What's with Fred Meyer and Pacific Automation on the court?
