Don’t remember him going down and banging to get boards. Must have been long misses form their missed 3’s?

They were not all long rebounds. I noticed him on one play in particular where I was a little surprised it was him.

The good news: We're tied with the longest winning streak in the West.
The bad news: It's still only a 2 game win streak.

The West is Brutal.

Teams are just going to be being each other up all season. Would not be surprised to see the last 4 seeds in the west be around .500.

There was pitcher called Sam McDowell in the 60's and 70's. And he was a "bonus baby" prospect who was signed for a large contract and flamed out early. Back and forth to the minors for a few years and was considered a bust like Meyers. Then one day (no one knows why, not even him....) he started throwing much harder and stopped being wild. He was an All Star for six years and was one of the better pitchers for more than a decade. They called him "Sudden Sam." It was one of the unexplainable careers in sports history. He was even the inspiration for the Sam Malone character in Cheers, although McDowell played in Cleveland. Sometimes people just put it together.

Josh Hamilton was a guy who was a phenom prospect and similarly looked like his career would go down the tubes. Of course, he battled a well publicized drug addiction but he was able to come back after years of being down and out to win an MVP and a ridiculously overpaid contract.

Damn good thing MEM was without Conley, huh? 11 team assists! 39% shooting! What a total shit show. That's a loss against any team at full strength. Not looking good for the PHI game...

I would agree with most of that but also, a road win against a quality team is a good win almost regardless of circumstances.

We've won 4 of our last 5 and are tied for 4 seed in West. Despite losing to Sacramento and Brooklyn and a three by Blake Griffin. Kind of amazing.
given number of losses at home, it sure doesnt feel we played that much games at home

Hamilton was such a fucking waste. More talented than Trout or Harper but dumber than a box of rocks. That guy could have done anything. He basically won an MVP on ability alone after he had destroyed his career with crack and booze. The only other baseball prospect that was a bigger loss was Brien Taylor. But he just made the wrong decision outside the wrong bar.

This win was probably more a function of Memphis sucking without Conley. They had dropped 4 in a row prior with Conley out, and shot an abysmal percentage from the field tonight.

Coach should give Meyers more opportunities to prove himself, because Swanigan nor Collins look comfortable out there at all. And Turner aka Mr. Panic Plan B to Parsons, please stop shooting.

Noah's defense is a revelation. He is strong as hell inside and has the quicks to switch and recover (which is crazy cuz his legs are massive and he doesn't look like he should be so nimble). No coincidence that our defense improved this year after he came back. As long as he can stick an open jumper now and then and finish somewhat well around the rim, he needs to play 30 mpg.

I'm coming around to Noah as a mainstay for us as PFotF.

Now we need a SF in the worst way possible.

IMO Caleb and Zach are somewhat meaningless here "for now". What we need to find out is if Noah is our PF of the now and future and if Bazz can maintain this level. If they can and Nurk improves (should be easy with his erratic start) then this team could be better than I thought, especially with the D we are playing and getting Chief back. Frankly I now see Hark as expendable (for capspace I would hope), Turner obviously, and even Caleb if we can package him in a Turner or other capspace trade. If Bazz keeps this up he could also gain trade value and be used in a capspace deal or we just keep him. And here the likely "false hope" crops up, that Meyers can maintain the level of the past few games and is either kept or can be traded without needing to add much if anything (the Hail Mary of my post)

Told ya he would go all mask-less Flip Rodriguez on the league this year sans braids.

Not that I've gotten a chance to see him play since coming back...

If Meyers plays like this it’ll be easier to trade Davis. I’d rather have this Meyers than Davis. Then again I wouldn’t mind shedding Leonard’s contract either

Not me. I'd rather pay Davis what Meyers makes. Butters does not get offensive rebounds.

Ok and there are also things Leonard does that Davis doesn't. His floor spacing is arguably just as valuable as Davis' rebounds. It opens up the offense. It's not a coincidence that the offense flows better when Leonard plays well. Leonard also defends traditional bigs better than Davis (not a dig at Davis, since he's more of a power forward)

For better or worse, Leonard is our best backup center, and Vonleh makes Davis expandable.

Tag his ass so he knows. @GrandJury

How am I shitting on him? Dame is a great leader how many times do I say that? He’s tough as fuck too and his heart is even better

But the guy I been saying for years is inefficient and takes Curry level shots that is dumb

Have u seen his numbers this year? He can’t hit from 3 and is shooting 39% from the field..

So he can’t be better and be called on it?

Plus currently he’s at his worst TS% since his rookie year. He’s struggling on offense. PERIOD

How does Vonleh make Davis expendable when one is backup C and one is starting PF? All this after one good game? Will you go back to trashing him when he plays worse?

The bolded is also VERY sig worthy. Butters our best back up Center... You need to be tarred and feathered for that...

Nice to see Vonleh doing his best Buck Williams impression. Defense and rebounding is what we need from him.

Yeah the rim protection is a nice added bonus. I was happy with him just covering his man, but he is helping out the others too.

Because Davis isn’t a center. Read through next time.

I did read through your post and garnered no new or intelligent information. On this team and in this NBA he is a Center.

To expand, two years ago when Davis was at his best, he shared the court with Leonard more than anyone and Meyers was the one guarding opposing centers, not Ed. He’s a power forward whos been forced to play center out of necessity. If Leonard continues to play the way he has since pretty much the preseason started, Davis can go back to playing his natural position. We’ll see what that means for his future in Portland, but I’d be surprised if management gave up on Vonleh now.

Let me ask you a question then genius, who’s the one guarding centers when he shares the court with Meyers?

"When he shares the court with Meyers" (which is almost never).

See how you fucked up? If you don't I'll spell it out.

He guards them because Butters CAN'T guard PFs. Now begone with this whole Butters is our best backup center bullshit.

Wrong again. Davis is at his best NOW. This season.

And your argument keeps failing because we ALL KNOW Butters shouldn't be guarding PFs..
