I'm traveling and missed most of the game. Whats up with Nurk now?

Wahh Nurk is mad wahhh. Shut up already, so what if he’s mad, he’s a competitor. All that matters is that he plays hard, and he did again tonight.

Great to see Dame have his first 30+ point night (he had 10 through the first 17 games last year). Balanced scoring is nice, but we're at our best when Dame is leading the offense like he did tonight.

Would have been nice if we could've put the short-handed 76ers away earlier, but always be happy with a win in the NBA!

He came in during the 4th, was playing well, 76ers went small, he made a silly foul, Billups pulled him, and Nurk threw his mouth piece and began sulking/talking to himself on the bench.

Nurk double double 11/11 but he needs get in his head that he plays a role on this team. But seem like he thinks he better then he really is.

Did he take Nurk out because Philly went small?

Be curious if Billups gets asked the question and how he answers. If I had to guess, it was a combo of Philly going small and how well Nance has been playing.

So to this point in the season you have called Dame, CJ, Nurk, Roco, Powell Simons and Zeller
GARBAGE.
Can you tell us what player the Blazers have that you actually like and are here rooting for?

I bet at least half this board has that guy on mute. Suggest you join the party instead of trying to reason.

Ah. Thanks. I caught some possessions in the first before I had to head to the airport. Saw CJ chucking while missing Nurk a few times and figured he'd get pissy. But this switching defense Billups has started to implement works best with Nance out there. Need to manage Nurks emotions a bit. He's still our best defender overall and need him engaged.

* Dame had his first 30 point game tonight, 17 games into the season (he's played 15). Last season, he he scored 30 points or better 33 times in 67 games. He also had his first double digit FT game. Last season, he had 14 double digit FT games

* I noticed in the 4th Q that for 4-5 possessions in a row CJ was bringing the ball down and 'initiating' offense. He Bricked a couple of shots and made a couple of turnovers...and the offense stalled. Billups signaled to Dame and Dame started bringing the ball up and running the offense and suddenly it was back on track. I'm still not convinced playing Dame off the ball is a good idea

* speaking of 17 games into the season...is that all it took for Chauncey to lose Nurkic?

* I don't see any reason at all why Philly would want CJ when they have Maxey and Curry. They combine for 11M in salary; CJ makes 31M

The Blazers have won 8 in a row at home and move a game over .500 for the first time since they were 3-2 early in the season. Join the Blazers Uprise Postgame Show to discuss why the Blazers looked so go at times but also let the 76ers back in the game.

I think it’s that they went small. Nurk had an immediate contribution on both ends when he came in. But when they go small and you have the lead it makes some sense to keep it balanced. Still I’d rather have Nurk in.

Nance is pretty much turning into our Draymond. I don’t think he’s shown everything he’s got either. Once he gets more comfortable with the system and his teammates we will see him take more chances passing wise, because he’s got that in his bag as well

Feels great to see the real Damian again. Only game 17, still 65 to go. Long season.

I don't read many game threads, but I've read a few pages here and I don't even understand this Nurk hate, I think he's been playing well. So what if he wants to play, I'd rather that than not caring. Every account I've read is that he's a good teammate.

At any rate I love beating Philly. I "hate" their coach, their TV commentators, their GM and their fans.

I like Tony Snell

That’s how you do it, keep winning home games. If you do that, that’s 41 wins already

there are a couple of posters flashing some Nurk hate

but more critical takes are of impatience rather than hate. I think most recognize that Nurk is having a huge impact on defense and in rebounding

problem is Portland's offense is dominated by 4 shoot-first guards. They dominate 68% of the shots and 67% of the usage. And only one, Dame, has the vision of a PG. Coincidentally, he was the one guy who was by far the best at finding Nurkic in good scoring position. But Billups has decided to play Dame more off-the ball this season, so Dame isn't in a position to feed Nurkic as often. In very real way, Nurkic is getting squeezed by the roster construction. His FGA's have dropped from close to 12 a game in 2017-19 to 9.0 last season and now 7.6 this season.

His assist rate has gone from 21.4% last season to 12.4% this season. Unfortunately, his turnover rate has gone from 16.0% to 18.7% so it's real hard to argue he should be more of an offensive hub

so it's easy to understand why he's frustrated with his role. It's definitely smaller.

Nurk is not dealing well with this being a contract year. The flashes of selfish and petulant behavior are counter-productive for all involved - unless, of course, he has already decided he won't re-sign here.
