Game 2 Pens and refs vs. Rangers

I really wish the NHL would eliminate icing on an empty net. You’re playing a man down just like the PK. Get rid of the icing.

Carter will hopefully see Mr. Reaves in game three.

The Rangers tend to play better on the road in the playoffs so maybe this springboards them.

Good win, bounce back I expected.

Rangers, Oilers, Panthers, and Wild all win game 2 at home to even their series 1-1. TB/Tor 1-1 also. Have to love the NHL playoffs.

Going to be a fun one in Pitt Saturday night. They'll come out flying, can we withstand the blitz and then take over like the Pens did in game 1.

Played better. Panarin redeemed himself for not back checking all game. Too bad Goodrow he is a playoff guy. At this point I would sit Rooney he sucks . Play McKegg (who sucks too) or Gauthier

Because Parros is an incompetent, dumb fuck at his job, you are seeing teams starting goalies getting hit all across the playoffs. If the retard was fired by useless Bettman and they had somebody in there that suspended players for hitting goalies, this wouldn't happen. Carter should be given at least a game. You need to send the message that if you hit goalies, you are getting suspended. That simple. However, Parros is a retard and has no clue how to do his job.

I find it interesting that the NHL likes to hire former thugs in that role. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but then again most of what the NHL does doesn't make a lot of sense to me (like the most ridiculous playoff seeding model in the history of team sports). And again why they will always be clear 4th of 4 major sports in America.

Shame of it is, the NHL playoffs are the best playoffs of any pro sport. 6 of 8 series even 1-1, amazing stuff.

Melrose said it was Shesterkin's fault. Sorry Barry you old fart. I don't see it that way. Now, I do think Shesterkin was acting. However, Carter a vet had plenty of room to go around him.

There is no doubt Carter could have avoided him. There also seems to be no doubt Igor was over the top with his reaction and "flip". I say no shot Carter gets suspended. At best maybe a little slap on the wrist fine, but most likely no there either.

And BTW - game 3 the Pens will get at least 4 PP's, maybe 5, and we will not get more than 2 tops. Mark that down now. You know that is coming.

Got the win last night and did what we had to do, but simply put we need to do MUCH better on Crosby, and we need to tighten up in our own zone or we'll get run out of their building in games 3 and 4.

It's completely stupid. The two division winners should be #1 and #2 and then it should be by points for 3-8. Then play it out as seeds advance.

They're giving up far too many shoots. Another 40+ last night which can't continue. That being said, the goaltending advantage is huge at the moment. There's no excuse if a third stringer remains in goal for the Pens.

Anything is better than the current seeding. The NHL is in love with their bracket challenge, so do what the NBA does and still bracket. Go 1-8 in each conf, division winners are 1 and 2 seeds, and then points from there. Go with brackets if you want to instead of reseeding - 1-8 winner plays 4-5 winner and 2-7 winner plays 3-6 winner. Very simple and you won't have the best teams playing in round 1 and 2 all the time, leading to lesser teams in the CF's.

Ridiculous.

DeSmith is now out for the rest of the playoffs, so either Jarry is back, seems unlikely for game 3, or the 3rd stringer plays again.

And I agree with you regarding no excuse to lose if the Pens have a 3rd stringer playing goalie, I will say if we don't tighten up in our own zone in games 3 & 4, we will be in huge trouble in their building, 3rd stringer or not. We have to play better D to win there IMO.

Domingue has had seasons where his save % was .908+ over a decent amount of games. So while he may be a third stringer, he's not a schmuck.

Agreed - we need to be better and tighter to win this thing. Seems unlikely Jarry back soon from a broken foot.

Sounds like Goodrow out for rest of Pens series, Lindgren day-to-day (we'll see about game 3), and Motte getting closer - maybe could play later in series.

For the Pens, Rakell and Dumoulin are day-to-day.

I think Dum and Lindgren similar boat. If one plays and the other doesn't good advantage for that team. We have more D depth with Trouba and Miller, but similar type losses.

I couldn't stand when Gallant put Hunt on the Panarin line but he played a heck of a game on the 4th line where he belongs. He was beating Pens defenseman to the puck all night. You can see that the Pens players are getting tired already of Reeves plastering them. He's had an impact for sure.

Very impressed with Reaves in the first two games. Taking the body and is a presence out there. Also, limiting Malkin skating around cheap shoting people like a moron.
