I find it interesting that the NHL likes to hire former thugs in that role. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but then again most of what the NHL does doesn't make a lot of sense to me (like the most ridiculous playoff seeding model in the history of team sports). And again why they will always be clear 4th of 4 major sports in America.
Shame of it is, the NHL playoffs are the best playoffs of any pro sport. 6 of 8 series even 1-1, amazing stuff.
There is no doubt Carter could have avoided him. There also seems to be no doubt Igor was over the top with his reaction and "flip". I say no shot Carter gets suspended. At best maybe a little slap on the wrist fine, but most likely no there either.
And BTW - game 3 the Pens will get at least 4 PP's, maybe 5, and we will not get more than 2 tops. Mark that down now. You know that is coming.
Got the win last night and did what we had to do, but simply put we need to do MUCH better on Crosby, and we need to tighten up in our own zone or we'll get run out of their building in games 3 and 4.
Anything is better than the current seeding. The NHL is in love with their bracket challenge, so do what the NBA does and still bracket. Go 1-8 in each conf, division winners are 1 and 2 seeds, and then points from there. Go with brackets if you want to instead of reseeding - 1-8 winner plays 4-5 winner and 2-7 winner plays 3-6 winner. Very simple and you won't have the best teams playing in round 1 and 2 all the time, leading to lesser teams in the CF's.It's completely stupid. The two division winners should be #1 and #2 and then it should be by points for 3-8. Then play it out as seeds advance.
DeSmith is now out for the rest of the playoffs, so either Jarry is back, seems unlikely for game 3, or the 3rd stringer plays again. They're giving up far too many shoots. Another 40+ last night which can't continue. That being said, the goaltending advantage is huge at the moment. There's no excuse if a third stringer remains in goal for the Pens.
I couldn't stand when Gallant put Hunt on the Panarin line but he played a heck of a game on the 4th line where he belongs. He was beating Pens defenseman to the puck all night. You can see that the Pens players are getting tired already of Reeves plastering them. He's had an impact for sure.
