Here's a sample from a few years ago (2013 I believe) showing the lack of correlation between assists and field goal percentage.

I'm not talking about just assists though. I bet if you looked up possessions without a pass (in non-fast break opportunities) it would be pretty brutal efficiency wise.

I think he might be happy Dame hit that shot.

Dame sure as hell didn't hit any shots tonight, but yeah Dame set him free with the goodbye shot. Else he would still be losing in OKC

question.... would you trade Hassan before the trade deadline even if Nurk is not ready yet?
Only if they are giving up on the season . If they want to win this season I wouldn't trade him even if Nurk was healthy unless they got something really good.

You might be right... The # of passes would be a horrible measurement because it would count a dribble handoff to get someone the ball equally to a pocket pass that gets someone a layup. I'm sure it would not be difficult to find Isolation % and compare it to TS%.

I want to clarify that in theory, I agree with you that more movement, more passing, more actions would mean a greater chance to score. I've been pissed to find no meaningful data that backs it up.

This game was over as soon as Harrell knocked Anthony on his ass and not one Blazer got in his face. From that point on the entire Blazer team played scared like a bunch of little boys looking for anyway to score that they didn’t have to go head to head with anyone in the paint.
It’s happened about 3 or 4 times this year. The Blazers have no enforcer. Somebody better step up and start being tough or this is gonna be a pattern.

Blazers are now 1-8 against teams with winning records and have lost 7 in a row

10 more games before Christmas; 8 are at home and 7 are against teams with losing records. Three game after Christmas to close out the year, @Utah, Lakers, Suns. About a week ago I predicted 17-17 by the end of the year....a fit of optimism for me....They need to go 9-4 to get there. It's quite possible but they can't play down to the level of the bad teams, or they will drop a couple they shouldn't. Realistically, maybe 16-18

they have to play the Lakers twice and I have no clue about who can defend Anthony Davis. Stotts probably doesn't have a clue either

by the end of the year, Portland's home/road split will be an even 17-17. Their schedule in Jan & Feb is pretty damn difficult. They play 31 games and 17 are against teams with winning records. I don't think 50 wins is in the cards this season. Even hitting 45 might be a challenge

Damn....Webber really taking the Blazers lack of passing and movement to task. Good! Point out that nonsense. Iso is not how you win big games long term.
But does Jody watch the TNT broadcasts?

And Load MGMT Leonard pushed him in the back.

You can trade all you want but until we move the ball and players movement this going be the out come against good team. Best we play last year offense when we had 2 key players missing due we move the ball and player movement. Games like this we are easy to guard and easy for our guards get double team due the defense doesn't have to move at they funnel the ball hander into 2 or 3 guys. Clippers did the opposite to us there defense made our defense by movement and player movement that guys wide open. The initial part of the defense play pretty good by after 2 or 3 we couldn't keep up.

This was the point. It didn't matter who we added to the roster as long as we have this coach and this garbage ass ball movement. Everyone talks about roster and trade but that's not even scratching the surface. Get rid of this bum ass coach and bring in a guy who preaches and actually knows how to instill ball movement.

Fucking Olshey

Do you really think this coach would have played him or ran him out of town as someone who didn't stretch the floor? The Clippers actually have ball movement unlike the Blazers. I'm betting we have good players on our roster now that aren't able to show themselves. Fuck, Rodney Hood who is among the most efficient offensive players in the league can't even get in the double digits as far as shots go.

Ah, typical misguided pessimism. Their schedule in February isnt difficult.

Trail Blazers "KIA" keys to the game:

-Allow as many open threes as possible, preferably from the corner.
-Allow Harell to do whatever he wants. DO NOT BOX HIM OUT.
-Take as many contested shots as possible.
-If all goes according to plan, then it's time to insert Anthony Tolliver.
