- I'm at a loss at what to do with Chief ... He's easily our best defender but I cringe every single time he touches the ball on offense. I just don't think he's a starter on a Top 4 seed in the West.
No he's not. People have fallen into the trap of believing this because it's been said a lot, just like people said Nate was a good defensive coach and people believed it for way too long. Aminu is not a good defender. He's a long defender, and therefore versatile. But he uses his length (arms) rather than moving his feet. He turns his head and loses his man. It doesn't take much for his man to get by him on one dribble, and then all Aminu can do is keep abreast while his man takes it to the basket...where occasionally he'll block the shot trailing the play, but usually just get scored on. Aminu is the most overrated defender on the team. Turner is better (but smaller). Vonleh is better. Harkless is better. There's not enough evidence yet, but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised in Pat, Jake, and Collins are better, or would be better if given consistent minutes.

....and? That's why they won.

You're answering your own question here. One stat matters because we got outscored there by 30 points.

I mean, shit....there's no winning a game there when you don't answer back somewhere else to make up for it. Which we didn't.

By 3 points? We get the foul call on CJ and we win the fucking game. So if we win is outside shooting more important than points in the paint? No. Like I said points are points. If CJ gets fouled and we win....the goat of the game is actually Giannis who bricked two late free throws.

Well, we DIDN'T win, so obviously stats favoring them matter.

And let's not forget something I mentioned earlier: how many fucking FTs did we miss in this game? Something which has been a problem year after year since we rebuilt this team. It would not surprise me if we missed 7 FTs in this game. That's 7 points right there, and we wouldn't be having this conversation.

we hit 31-35 FT tonight

What I don't understand is why CJ didn't pass it to Dame. He's standing directly in front of him, squared up and wide open for three. That was more frustrating to me than the non foul call.

Yep. Before the "non-call" he had a wide open Dame.

I literally yelled at my tv. "DAME IS OPEN. CJ WHAT THE FUCK DAME IS OPEN" and then the ball got stolen. I was in the moment so upset with CJ. That cost us the game right there, even with Dame's stupid play... I can live with a good pass and a miss than a missed pass and a turnover, all day every day.

What was the shot clock at that point?

Took 35 FTs and missed 4.

Mil took 30 FTs and missed 8

Heartbreaker!
Some questionable reffing there ,though plenty of mistakes from our guys put them in that position.

Dame's defense in game one was sub-par (despite 3 block), however, these past two games it has looked much improved. Hat tip to Dame for the increased effort on D.

Nurk needs to slow down and dial it in a bit more - and FFS can we GET A BIG MAN COACH!!!

Thought our Body language was quite poor in this game though, and also was disappointed not to see the rookies at all on a B2B.

we shot 89% from the line and they shot 73%

I see.....sure seemed like more than that.

Still.....4 points right there. Missed.

Overall, the Bucks were the better team. Sometimes, you just can't overcome length.

And by the way....there was no foul on CJ; I saw the slow-mo replay, and it was a clean swipe on the ball by an elite player with very long arms. CJ missed an open Dame; that was huge.

I agree. No foul. Never grabbed him

Still think we are one All - Star caliber player away from being a contender. The depth of this team can matchup well but we need one more scoring option that teams have to prepare for. Milwaukee's height and athleticism game us fits today.

Don't know, but CJ was quoted after the game that he was going to drive it inside. Like he had is mind made up and no wide open teammate would change it smh.

I don't remember either but I thought there was still 15 seconds left on the shot clock. I was hoping to run it down. Which means a 3 by Dame would not have been wise. Run the clock down and attack the basket made more sense.

There was 30 seconds left in the game at the beginning of the play, and 11.8 seconds left at the steal.... so all in all when Dame was open and CJ missed him, there was 7-8 seconds left on the shot clock.

And that does frustrate me. I love CJ, I do. But that play you kick it out... you have one of the coldest (in a good way) shooters in the league wide open, vs. going through a double team to take a much more difficult shot.

At the end though, we had a lead with 11 seconds left in the game on the road in a b2b (and 3 out of 4)... Things to take away from it good and bad.

If there was 12 seconds left at the steal/shove then the pass would have had to have been made earlier....before the steal. So like I said around 14-15 seconds left on the shot clock. If Dame's feet were really set for a 3....and he misses with that much time left.....this thread would have been a lot different. You know people would be bitching about Dame and his shot selection with too much time left on the clock.

Maybe CJ made the wrong decision, maybe he didn't. Maybe Giannis pushed with his left hand while cleanly swiping with his right hand...or maybe it was completely clean.....but to guess we win if CJ makes the pass to Dame seems like a stretch.

No we wouldn't have. We wouldn't be bitching about a wide open 3 to seal the game with 6 seconds left on the shot clock... It wasn't like there was a 1 second difference.

Also, screw Calabro for saying Lillard got fouled after he got Giannis' rebound with 30 seconds left. Calabro messes up so much it's embarrassing. Can't stand him as a commentator.

I agree this is where someone like Harkless I wish would dominate and be that guy... Not even crazy numbers but just something that annoys the other team with high percentage numbers and a true guy who HAS to be accounted for..

OK I see. I thought it was 12 seconds left on the shot clock not the game clock.

What a game. Rooting for this team was a chore last year, but it's been the exact opposite for these first 3 games.

Getting to tonight, we struggled around the rim and thought we didn't take advantage of the Bucks aggressive defense as much as we needed to. Their length and athleticism needs to be combated with high level passing/execution and I didn't see enough of that.

Another great effort though. No shame in this loss. Would've have been nice to be the team to make the plays down the stretch, but if Dame continues to lead like he has been and keeps this group playing with an edge, I feel like we'll be on winning end of these types of games more often than not.

Can't wait to see what this team can do on it's home floor.

I agree with the one more player part. (at SF) But length is not the problem. Our shortest players have little problem outscoring longer guards. And tonight our starting SF matched up fine length wise with their SF (Middleton) just not talent wise. We need more scoring from that position, not length. Although Harkless did have a decent game tonight on O

Giannis is a matchup problem with everyone.
