Blazers looked better than the Sums tonight till we beat ourselves.

meh....Portland was hot in the 1st Q; Phoenix was hot in the 4th Q. Better to be hot in the 4th Q

and of course the big one: when Portland had the ball it was the 7th rated offense against the 3rd rated defense. When Phoenix had the ball it was the 8th rated offense against the 28th rated defense. One mismatch is all it takes

Couple things i noticed.
Trent is shooting but he isn't hitting well at all. I feel he needs to continue to shoot and get through this. We all know he can hit those open 3's he was missing tonight. It will come back.
Simons has gained some confidence and his shot seems to be falling better. he made a couple more mistakes tonight he will learn from.
Little continues to play pretty well and i have noticed he is settling down a bit. Seems like he is more comfortable.
They went all in on stopping Lillard like all teams do. The Blazers needed CJ to make them pay for that.
Lillard/CJ > Booker/Paul If the Blazers are full strength and have Nurk vs Saric with CJ also available this game goes in the win column.

It’s interesting that you guys don’t make the connection between us playing badly and the refs completely jobbing us on both ends.
Blazers were in a position to win and they made a number of huge mistakes and they also missed key shots down the stretch.
The reason i don't blame the refs is because it never should have been in the position that a refs call was what they were looking for.
The Blazers lost that game. The Suns did not win it and the refs did not take it away. Simple as that.

@River and Kiro. At this point you are not even funny anymore.

We gonna lose every game with any proper team that wants to win against us. Blazers just make it easy for them. Then we gonna win games against teams with no plan and no playoffs ambitions.

It's a game...enjoy it...I'm glad you think I was funny at one time...that's enough for me! 4th qtr sucked, yeah, I get that...move on

Monte Williams out-coached Stotts;

PHX played better defense and trapping Dame takes him out of his game - Blazers better figure this out right away!

We play poor matador defense! We were winning early because they were missing shots - that’s about the only reason;

I’m not certain CJ and Nurk are going to take us over the top.

And Aldridge, with the ONLY exception being that we pick him up after he gets bought out, is not worth trading away assets for.

I've been hearing this for almost 9 seasons. Stotts still hasn't figured out how to make other teams pay for blitzing Damian. This has been going on forever.

Stotts doesn't know how to do better on defense despite getting better personnel.

This is what to expect going into the playoffs. As usual.

You're 100% correct. This isn't an NBA finals caliber roster with 2 additional non-all stars. This is a 4-7 team in the West, when healthy.

Move on. We are those poor soldiers going on Stalingrad in winter. We know how it will end.
It's not fun to see other teams making trade moves and playing defense with Blazers rounding circles on the same roundabout for five years.
Nothing to cheer for.
And this argument about other teams struggling... It's seems we are on new "woke" kind of sportsmanship: Championship don't mater, what's important - we got great culture and friendship.

Don't get it twisted.
Even players know this.

I really don't understand everyone always bringing this up? The Blazers and Stotts already have. Every team in the NBA already has? Everyone knows how to beat the trap and double team. When they do the Blazers win. When they don't they lose.

I'm trying to understand the rationale of playing Hood so many minutes, especially in the fourth quarter. Are they just trying to let him play into shape and get his game going? I usually wouldn't mind this because he could help in the playoffs, but it's gotta be increasingly harder to keep Nas on the bench. He's playing really well on both ends and always seems to be at the right place at the right time.

But i think the blame for this game lies on Neil's reluctance to bring in any sort of big man help while Giles/Nurk/Collins have been hurt. We got killed in the fourth when Monty said fuck it and benched Ayton for Saric. They got so much out of Dario in the post because Roco could not guard him in single coverage. Having just even an average defensive big would have mitigated this. How he has shirked responsibility is unforgiveable in this. For fucks sake, even a two play player like Justin Patton could have helped. Instead, we have our record ONLY because Dame has went supernova on our easy schedule prior.

And Terry not making a single adjustment on how we covered him was cringeworthy but not unexpected. This is what we see from him. Can't wait til this dude is gone.

Looking at individual defense stats from this year and last year. The DBPM stats the biggest regression by player this then last has been Trent now there other players that not very good neither Kanter is bad and the young is not great either but I throw that by inexperienced. Dame is down from last year but that might due to him spending to much energy on offense. Really the only one with positive rating is Covington and Jones not just below the positive.

I'm guessing that unlike Olshey, Stotts has no delusions about Simons being the backup PG. He's turned to Hood for that role when Dame sits

the only thing that will save Blazer fans from the Olshey/Stotts treadmill is an edict from Seattle

I'm a fan...I'm also a war veteran so comparing Stalingrad famine and war to not winning a championship for 5 years is pretty extreme and not based in reality...it's a game with a rubber ball...don't get too worked up over it...I enjoy the Blazers every season. Making the playofffs and having a shot is all a fan can ask for....and I saw us win a championship already once...the Blazers have always been worth cheering for ....if you don't like them, there are other choices. 29 of 30 teams don't win a championship every season....doesn't ruin the fanbase for most. Not freaking out over a loss just comes with ones personal temperment in my view....the other approach to sports is the soccer mom freak out....that's also a popular choice for some...not me
