Who's the best perimeter defender on the Blazers?

Based on what I’ve seen from the Toronto game and so far tonight I know our future:

Nurk comes back after AS game, plays limited role, gains momentum as we hover around the 8th seed, team jells as Nurk plays more, we go on, like, a 10 game win streak where we demolish every team we play to close out the season, clinch 8th seed, become most dangerous 8 seed ever, get swept or win the series in 7

facts :crystalball:
Never mind

Maybe Stotts should give more playing time to players who are healthy and can put out an effort on defense. CJ isn't usually a notable defender but tonight he was a ghost. You could put your hand though him.

"We got shooters" it was never said if they were good shooters or not. Now we know.

Mario played really well tonight before he got hurt. In fact, he's played well the last three games. On both sides of the court.
It would have been nice to see him in with the young players at the end running the ball up the court and passing. Those guys might even have been cutting to the hoop without the ball.

The thing that really pisses me off his how calm Stotts is in his post game press conferences... like he has been told his job is safe no matter what happens... no accountability... unbelievable. And Neil will raise ticket prices on fans again next season to pay for his mismanagement of the salary cap while him and CJ drink wine and laugh at the stupid fans.

after all the jabber about Portland's injuries, over the last 9 games the Blazes only have 2 wins and here are the injury reports for the two teams Portland beat, and the players they were missing:

Wizards:

Bradley Beal
Dāvis Bertāns
Thomas Bryant
Rui Hachimura
Garrison Mathews
C.J. Miles
Moritz Wagner
John Wall

Raptors:

Marc Gasol
Dewan Hernandez
Norman Powell
Pascal Siakam
Fred VanVleet

both the Wizards and Raptors have won 4 of their last 9 while Portland was winning 2 of 9
It would seem as though the Blazers need players who make winning plays.
What does that even mean?
They figure out how to win.
The Blazers have talent, and they play teams on equal footing, really, so why aren't they winning?..

Somebody has to lose?

Individual talent doesn’t equal winning... especially when there are better dips around the league. It’s the sum of all parts that matters... and Dame/CJ just don’t play well together. They take turns going ISO while everyone else stands around and watches.

Blazers are playing absolutely SPINELESS right now. Watching players get disrespected and thrown to the floor over and over again without so much as a peep. When you see a player get literally thrown to the floor you got to have a response. What are they worried about? Is Dame really worried about getting thrown out of a game at this point?
Blazers need an Enforcer. Been saying it all year.

well, tonight the Wolves had 25 assists on 44 baskets, a .568 assisted FG rate, Portland had 14 assists on 35 baskets (Dame had 8), a .400 assisted FG rate. That could be a reason....other teams rely more on team offense. Portland relies on hero ball

Because we don’t have talent. Outside of Dame, Hassan, and CJ our talent sucks.

Good job, now lose to the Bucks and all the other Teams

Yup... even then Hassan and CJ are I dunno... Multiple tiers behind Dame.

For sure. Stat wise Hassan is doing real well, but I have a weak suspicion that he’s not quite as good as his numbers. Nurk IMO is significantly better than Hassan if he can return to last years form. But not good enough to fix this team. Hoard looked a bit promising for one game at least.

I remarked of his arrogance handling the media during preseason and it's evident in his decisions on PT that he's on his own program. It's time to frag the guy.

Portland has enough talent to be a 500 team. Idiotic strategies on both ends are the issue.
No they dont, its not a defense of Stotts but the the talent is pretty bad. I think at this point they have a bottom 5-10 roster in the NBA, at least of available players, they’re bad.
