Everybody has an off night. Even still he got off 16 shots--lol. Confidence has never been Dame's problem.

Can you imagine being a fan of a team that just inked Jrue Holiday to a $120m contract?

Remember that next time Myle's contract comes up and it won't feel so bad.

...anyone go to the game? Was the fan experience better, worse, or the same as the last couple seasons? The free t-shirt was cool again, but seemed very subdued overall...maybe it was just the poor shooting FG% :biglaugh: Spot on with @Boise Blazer though about good teams winning garbage looking games like this! 60+ rebounds is unreal.
I had a GREAT time! I trekked across the country to get there by tip off and late comers in line (!!!) kept me from seeing the first minute of the game. Once I was in my seat, though, I was in heaven. Makes me want to move to Portland and get season tickets. I always feel better about our chances when I'm there in person at a home game. I can feel their confidence and so I'm confident. I also like that I can focus on whatever I want. I can see Stotts call Meyers up off the bench, etc. Only downside to watching in person is injury news. Didn't know what happened to A Davis. He just suddenly wasn't playing anymore. You don't get the replay and commentary about what happened to him. I was kinda bummed actually. I wanted to see him play. Hella glad we won though. I've decided to stay and see the game on Thursday before returning to NYC.

You should totally move to Portland.

So what happened to AD? Was it the sheer presence of the most interesting center in the world that injured AD?

He launched 10 threes. Didn't get defensive stops. Whined to refs instead of taking responsibility for leading the team.

Honestly, that team is a lot scarier when Boogie is around the rim. I was quite happy for him to launch all those threes. Watching CJ guard him out on the three point line is great! More boards for our bigs.

Boogie is one of the most talented bigs in the league. He just plays dumb sometimes. At one point he had the ball in the post with CJ switched on him. And he passes out to the perimeter for another turnover. Just weird.

Portland didn't deserve to win with how they shot the ball, and the silly mistakes they made.
However if you go back to last year, Portland wou;d've been blow out in a game like this.
I'll take the ugly win.
Lillard, CJ & Nurk must play better.
CJ outside of one stretch played like ass, Lillard played like ass, Nurk got 3 fouls in the first 6 minutes of the game.
I really don't care that they turned it around, or if they hit a few shots. or if they didn't pick up another foul the rest of the game.
Those three are the core guys going forward. Can't play like ass, must be better.
I have no reason to believe they won't be better.

Good to see Davis back to being Davis.
Also good to see Swanigan contesting @ the rim, as well as getting in position to take charges.

That game he had against us in Sacramento a while ago shows how transcendent a talent he is. Whether that little light goes off and he realizes even though he plays a kid's game, he has to act like an adult.... who knows. Boogie says that anything that happens on the court is totally seperate from his private life. So maybe he'll pull a Zack Randolph one day. Who knows?

this was such an ugly game, but we managed to win it and its encouraging that were winning even when were not at our best, or when our big 3 isnt playing on their levels and I just wonder how were gonna look when they come back to their best... bench is producing and thats great, but NOP are just bad matchup for us, same as MIL

Statistically, this was Dame's worst game of his entire career, going 3/16 with 6 turnovers.

That's terrifying to me.

Something is wrong with him. I hope it's just a one game abberation, but it wasn't a case of cold shooting. It was like he had no idea what to do out there so he was throwing up these desparation shots. He wasn't setting up teammates either, he'd just hoist a pass when he gave up going on on one. His passing was awful as well.

Dame talks a big game about being a leader, but I'm still waiting for him to play like one.

I was hoping that this season, the Rose Garden would become a feared place. Last year the team lost a lot of games to bad teams at home, and we can't really afford to do that with as good as the west is this year.

Dame talked alot about the need to get off to a fast start, and the team played so well in the pre-season, and the 1st two games, but it seems to already be fizzling out.

So last game he should have passed to Dame. This game he should never have passed to anyone.......

It sometimes depends on the flow of the game, who is hot, who is not, and who is guarding you.

NOP is just a bad matchup for us, for those who dont remember, they beat us badly last season in New Orleans
that was very ugly blowout

I think a lot of it had to do with good Defense by NO too. They smothered him at times, and he just froze up; like he wasn't expecting it.

Let's not get carried away.....this is one game, and I think he's a leader, but I think sometimes he relies more on his performance on the court than his verbal skills. And that's a problem.

Dame just needs to take better shots. When you are building a brick house, one layer at a time, taking a step-back, sideways leaning 22' jumper is just not a good decision. Jacking up 26' shots after not a single pass in the possession when you haven't hit a thing all night....another poor decision. He can do so many other good things but his shot selection keeps him from being elite.

That and dominant rebounding

If you're off on offense then you can win by playing D and that means holding the opponent to one bad shot. On offense, if you can grab offensive boards, you get enough chances to make baskets even at low %. At the end of the game, you have to make your free throws because they will foul you to stop the clock.

Otherwise score, score, score and dare them to keep up :)

And when all that fails, dye your hair pink/red!

I wish we would push the pace a bit more against teams like NO. Our defense is noticeably better and we're actually forcing turnovers. It's not translating to fast break points.

Maybe that will come as the season goes on.

Dame will be back but I due agree some here that he does take bad shots at times. Sometimes it looks like he trying to get his no matter the outcome of the game. A lot star players do this in this league. Sometime he thinks he has to carried is team on his back especially when we are struggling but he needs to think that there a lot option out there that can score this year we are stronger team then the past.
