I can't get over that call with harden getting three fts. After review even. What's the explanation

Just watched the game aNd rewound that four or five times to try to figure out what the hell i missed. That was a blatantly missed call by the refs.

According to the write up in the SF Chronicle, after Turner put Portland up 11 the fans "headed for the exits". Really? A solid win over a hot Western Conference opponent and so-called fans can't stick around 3 minutes to give the team the end of game applause? If you don't value the team, give your damn tickets to someone who does.

On the surface I get this.
The. further down I dont agree. The NBA is entertainment. If someone pays to go spends the time, and all the things required to go to a game they can enjoy it however they want too, within reason. I know if I paid to take my family to a game and we decided to leave early for whatever reason I wouldnt feel bad or feel like we cheated the team or some fan who didnt get to go. Its our entertainment budget our ‘free time’. I dont need to be told by someone else how I should enjoy it and for how long I have to enjoy it for. If I feel my entertainment is done then no I dont feel obligated to stay because someone else may have stayed longer.

Terrible interpretation. The foul was by Turner on Tucker. Tucker then made contact with Harden after the ball was 20' out of Harden's hands.

That was certainly my opinion when the call was made, but I think the foul was called because of this rule:

“Any player whose actions against an opponent cause illegal contact with yet another opponent has committed the personal foul.”

It seems logical that you can’t shove an opposing player into a another opposing player who’s shooting the ball and avoid freethrows. Not that Turner was intentionally doing that, but that was the effect.

People are free to leave whenever they want. But I go to other entertainment. You don't see people leaving a play before the last scene or ballet before final pas de deux, unless performance is inexcusably bad, which also applies to sports

I go to movies and leave early if it sucks or I just dont feel like being there. Most venues like the theatre with live actors is a more intimate experience than a Blazer game. Theres also rarely 10,000 people trying to leave at the same time. Like I said I get it, but it doesnt really bother me either, and I dont feel like someone leaving early needs to give their tickets away to someone who wouldve stayed.

Just a thought. Maybe the reason he gets put on easier assignments is to save his energy? It's a long season and any coach must know to keep their best player as fresh as possible.
Dame is a decent on the ball defender, if he puts his mind into it (if he considers it a challenge) he could even be good. But he is a terrible help defender, if we're hiding him on their weakest player he's absolutely useless on defense. And as important it is to conserve his energy, if we're playing 4 players on defense whenever he's on the floor, that makes him much less valuable than he could be

I don't agree with any of that. But that is your view and i can respect that.

I read your posts and swear to god I think if somebody was deliberately trying to be oblivious they couldn't do a better job

Don't be a rookie literal linear thinker. King's an even bigger put-on than me.

that's a large exaggeration

Turner -0.69
Dame -1.24

Stauskas -2.97

Dame is certainly not good at defense and is in fact, quite a bit below average. But he is the best Blazer defender among rotation guards. It kind of amazes me how quick some are to condemn Dame for his defense considering Portland has worse defenders and especially considering how much Dame does for the team. Dame's biggest defensive issue is a GM who won't bother to pair Dame with a good defensive guard. The Suns always did that for Steve Nash; Golden State does it for Curry. Dame hasn't had that advantage since Matthews

lol Sport center highlights of the game are all James Harden shots hahaha. What a joke.

The NBA app recap was awesome. They highlighted all the great defense we played. I wanted to post it here but don’t know how to.

Terrible interpretation. The foul was by Turner on Tucker. Tucker then made contact with Harden after the ball was 20' out of Harden's hands.

Can you IMAGINE if a call like that determined the outcome?? Or for a playoff game?

You'll notice Meyers is high on this list, shows you its credibility.
I tell what I see, he's our best offensive player but we need to address him often being a liability on defense. I'm not gonna pamper him (like his coach does and some fans here) and give him a pass on playing defense because he's our best offensive player. I believe he needs to make an effort to play both sides and if he's having problems with team defense or with certain matchups, the coaching staff needs to work with him on it and help him improve.
If we're hiding him on their worst defensive guard, and he plays no team/help defense, we're in a big problem defensively. it takes away almost all of his positive impact on the offensive end.
I'm not saying this to disrespect him or anything like that, but this needs to be said. It's accute to our success.
