It's unfortunate, Plums really has all the tools to be a really good post defender, I think he just needs coaching because the effort is there imo.

Good post defenders usually have decent wingspans though. Plumlee doesn't.

Not really. The human body is weird. This is one of many examples:

Olynyk: 7'0" | 6'9.75" wingspan | 9'0" reach
MyLo: 7'1.25" | 7'3" wingspan | 9'0" reach

Having a wide back would help wingspan, standing reach is arms.
