CJ did make five threes and shot 5 for 7 on the free throw line, so I don't think he hurt his trade value tonight.

Yes, you are correct. It is an absolutely idiotic thread to be bashing CJ. A lot of players contributed to this win tonight and he was certainly one of them.

CJs chucking was somewhat tolerable when we had no alternatives. There is no reason for him to throw up 19 shots when Ant and Nurk have been so successful. He let it go a bit in the fourth at least

I have to admit that I was wrong, Billups did go away from CJ in the fourth. He played through Nurkic and Simons which was not only good for them, and the team, it was also good for CJ because it got him easier looks. Great coaching!

A confident Nurk playing with swagger striles fear in the hearts of opponents. He HAS to have his head in the game; his body language tells a lot. His first half was so so but he really turned it around in the second half and he owned the 4th.

He scared the bejesus out of Tatum when he forced him to take that terrible last 3 pt attempt. Terrible shot selection when alls you need is 2.

“It is fun when you share the ball and play together.”
-Jusuf Nurkic

I’ve said this before, but it is hard to give all your effort when 2 guys are chucking shots all game and the same 2 guys aren’t playing any defense. It gets old fast. It started to show at the end of the Stotts era and carried over to the beginning of the Billups era.

yup. Even tonight we saw a lot of possessions where only CJ touched the ball, until billups adjusted and ditched it. That would’ve never happened under Stotts.

Well it might blessing for Dame and CJ go down for this team start playing as a team not individual play. No I don't wish anyone hurt but this team wasn't playing as a team 1st of the year and players around our guards seem little unhappy. Now they look happy and engaged and competing and have a lot confidence too.

I can only imagine what this place would be like if the Blazers went the final 7+ minutes of a game without a field goal.

I still like Ime.
I do too! I liked Brad Steven, Ime, Stotts, and Billups as well. I would've been perfectly happy if we got Ime, though I don't think it would change much.

Interesting how Boston's problems from last year and still their problems this year with a new coach. Same with us.

I remember people on here saying we made a mistake letting Kanter leave. Hes truly unplayable in today’s game.

They won't be once we do trades.

You forgot that little part needs to be cleaned up. Only half of it's done from the Stolshey debacle.

were not just winning, were winning on the road too!

dame & cj mccollum absence (ill add powell too) really turned some things in this team, nurk & ant have blossomed, little is improving, roco is playing better, im sure thats correlation with these guys being out

that screams "awful roster construction", but we already know that, but more importantly, hopefully front office sees it too

Team play, team play, team play.

How about idea, that this is not Dame's and CJ's team and it is The Team for a change?

I noticed that too. Same with the last game. He's not a good fit but kudos to him for taking a back seat in the fourth quarter since he came back.

I agree, and I certainly didn't forget... Once the thing that matters (roster construction) change significantly, then I suspect we'll actually see equally significant improvement in areas we've been struggling at for years. The guy switching up rotations, PnR scheme, and timeout philosophies was never likely to provide that significant improvement in my opinion.

I guess where we disagree is you think it was a 50%/50% problem where I think it was a 90%/10% problem and we've only attempted to change the 10% part.

Same with Stotts. I remember people making memes of Stotts laughing at the team's lack of success this season.

Yeah, this 19-26 team is having so much more success. After this nice 7 game stretch, you'd still have to go back 9 years to find a Blazer team who had less success.

Seems like someone has lowered the bar significantly from the "we should be contenders" status from last year.

lol Stotts got a decade. Billups got a couple months.

Honest question: Do you think Billups gets any further that Stotts did over the next decade?

I'm not asking this question to crap on Billups, I think he's doing a fine job, but I can't find one person who would bet that Billups leads a Blazer team further in the playoffs.
