he was one of the biggest trashtalkers in the history of the NBA.
I don't remember him that way at all as a player or coach...he'd play dirty, he was tough but he wasn't a loud vocal guy...he'd walk off the court without many words for anyone..he left his game on the court...off court he disappeared. The story in the day was Magic was the loud, showy guy and Bird was the sulking blue collar guy who wouldn't shake Magic's hand....very few were ever as competitive as Larry Bird...but he wasn't verbally flashy from my recollection..I never saw him play live...maybe he muttered trash talk all game...I just know he came off as sullen and withdrawn and hated to talk to the media

in what way is Layman like Ginobili?

Jake just had his first three consecutive game stretch in double figures. And he's scoring but nothing else. Ginobili was an elite playmaker in Europe. He was Harden before Harden.

I believe Jake had three assists yesterday so the playmaking potential is there.

To me this whole story supports my view about him talking with his game....confidence...Draymond Green is a loudmouth trash talker...whatever Bird said on the court....players would hear but he wasn't spouting over microphones or yelling at fans....he shunned that public stuff which was sort of my point about Bird...Jake in comparison doesn't like to talk after games much...to me neither were flashy guys.....Magic was a flashy guy...Draymond Green and Gary Payton are guys I'd call trash talkers....I'm sure Bird knew how to get under players skins during a game though

He has 40 for his career, in nearly 1000 minutes played. That's...pretty terrible. He has nearly as many steals for his career as assists.

Great to see Jake starting to breakout, knew he had it in him.
That finger roll he had was beautiful.

I've been hoping to see this, but his irregular minutes have not been helping.
Just confirms how clueless Stotts is - Jake probably wouldn't be doing this had Harkless not been injured and would still be on Stotts' leash.

his career pretty much consists of never touching the ball for most of it

cool video but I'll repeat....player to player..I'm sure even Layman trash talks.I'm sure Stockton trash talked..neither was a loudmouth...my point was his game shut up his opponent and unless you were on the court...the fans probably never heard a word he said.....players, sure...I watched Bird throughout his career and my impression was...his game was loud..his voice was not

the quotes in the video...I'm the best f'in player from Indiana...some say trash talk...some say..truth. Compare this video with a Gary Payton video....now that's a trash talker..Bird was a competitor as driven as any to play the game. Bird won with his game...not his personality

The best trash talkers to me are the ones who don't say a lot, but when they do it's poignant. Every time I've played against one of those guys who is "always" talking trash, it is so easy to zone it out, like 5 minutes into the game and I have no idea what they're talking about and I don't really care. My impression of the glove was he was one of those guys who just always had his mouth going.
