Love what Chauncey did tonight. Love Nas Little. He's a game changer.

Without removing Olshey, admittedly, I wasn't excited or hopeful about this season. Thru five games, I'll give them credit, the team looks different. I haven't cross compared statistics (too wrapped up in baseball at the moment), but based on eyeball observation the defense looks way more active especially with weak side help and at the rim and the bigs are making a difference. I assume we're causing more turnovers and we've already kept an opponent under 100 twice vs six times all of last year. Never thought I'd see it with this group. Billups is committed to using 9-10 players and strange not seeing the starters out there up 20 with under 5 minutes. It's like Billups trusts his guys or something. I was highly skeptical a coaching change would make this much difference, but I'm wrong so far.

I think this just solidifies the poll results at the beginning of this thread. Good to see.Five games in Blazers rank sixth in the league at DRTG (102.1)
C.J. has played really good defense this year. I'm now even more against this than I was before.

CJ’s team defense is still as horrid as ever. He’s still consistently out of position, over helping in situations, slow to rotate in situations and helping off the wrong guy.CJ has shown a bit more hustle on defense but he’s not a good defender when his player goes right around him over and over again. And it’s happening already; CJ starts but as the game progresses, he and Dame don’t play many minutes on the floor together. Why? Because CJ is a ball hog. He scores ONLY with the ball and after 12 seconds of juke, juke, drive (head down) spin and shoot.
Move CJ right now. Get back an asset or assets that will help this team now and into the future. If it’s not Simmons, then start talking with New York!
we're also first in pace.
Credit to Chauncey. Those are the 2 things he prioritized. He aimed to improve the defense and play with a higher pace to create easier shots.we're also first in pace.
crazy
this was one of my fav plays. check out the stunting, the recovery, dame calling out norm for the help at the rim before the play even develops, and norm with the nasty swat.
awesome stuff...
Who was that fat kid in the Laker jersey running out on the court there at the end?
What are some other examples of this? I haven't noticed this trend.
Not appreciating Sabonis while loving Chris Dudley? Hating Duck, but loving Mark Bryant?
Cripe, have to play Clips again in a week or so.
We should be happy; I don't think they are a very good team, without Leonard.

the variance is so wild right now. They went into the game ranked 15th. One game moved them 9 slots up and shaved 3.7 points off their rating. That's a definite sample size impact. Halfway into the season they'd have to hold an opponent 152 points below their average to move 3.7 points. In other words, if they had a rating of 102.1, the Blazers would have to hold a team to -50 points. That would be some impressive defense. As good as some of my stock picks
Portland's opponents have a combined 8-11 record with an average offensive rating of 17th (calc). 4-1 home/road advantage too
