Game 5 Panthers vs. Rangers

I know he is not the main reason they lost and he is one of the top goalies in the league but he can be blamed for a loss along with the rest of them as he IS a part of the team. I bet he feels the same way he let the team down. You win as a team and you lose as a team.

He is part of the team, but I don't feel he let the team down at all, I would bet the team feels like they wouldn't be close to where they are if he wasn't their goalie. When you factor in playoffs and regular season, he may be the 2nd best goalie in the NHL right now, you have to put Vasilevskiy ahead of him with 2 Cups and 3 SCF appearances.

We are losing because Mika, Panarin, Fox and a few others have barely shown up for this series. Watching this series Lafreniere and Trocheck stand out to me as the Rangers who are built for this, every other guy I can see go for the right price (Goodrow has been very good also, but he is what he is a 4th line glue guy, not a top guy you expect big performance from).

Panthers are better. Simple as that. The Rangers defenseman back in constantly. They have done it for years. Without Igor, this team would be at the bottom of the league defensively.

The Rangers need a couple of playoff players. There will be many things said unless they pull off a miracle here. One of them has to be what Drury failed to do for this playoff run.

I think it is mainly going to have to come from within with the kids. I just don't see how this team can make major moves with all these high-priced vets with NMC's. It will be virtually impossible to trade Zibanejad and Panarin.

Could I see Kakko going as a UFA, sure. And maybe it is time to deal Fox is now before his NMC kicks in on July 1, 2025, so this is the last summer to do it, as panzer has been saying, he is someone that could get back pieces to change the mix, but you need to get a 1st pair dman somewhere then.

We have no important UFA's, I don't count Gust as important. We only have 3 RFA's, Kakko and Lindgren with arbitration rights, and Schneider without. The cap will go up $4M if not more.

And the Drury failure is a big part of the story, I agree Mess. But again, thank goodness we held onto that 30th pick.

I think Kreider is going to get his jersey retired in the rafters. He has been of the best wingers the team has had in the last 34 years.

by the time he’s done it will probably happen. He’s already basically there in goals/points compared to Graves whose number is retired, so likely Kreider will too with that precedent.
Zero shot at HOF though.

I think good chance Kreider's number will be retired by the Rangers, and rightfully so, but I am not sure if the Graves comparison is 100% apples to apples as a big part of his Rangers lore is helping to win the Cup. Doesn't change the bottom line regarding Kreider, I agree, but without the 94 Cup I'm not sure Graves has his number retired.

Well said Mess, the guy has been under siege this whole series, one breakaway and odd man rush after the other often getting hit in the crease with no response. Lavs is blowing this by not playing Rempe and the 4th line more who at least show a heartbeat and make life tougher for Bob in front of the net. That 3rd line of the 3 pansies roslodick, wennshit and that total non competitive pussy kakko disgusts me every time they go on the ice! Like I said yesterday win tmo and Monday or major changes coming. Florida showed how to do it when they disappointed and traded Huberdeau for tkachuk. We should do the same thing if the worst happens and give up what it takes for Brady tkachuk!

We either are too soft, or we have too many grit guys and not enough finishers. This team lacks the ability to find the correct balance year after year. This year we went into the deadline needing a center that could win faceoffs, a right winger that could finish and a physical dman. What we got was a center that can’t score or win faceoffs, a right winger that has feet for hands and can’t finish and an 8th dman. Quite possibly the worst trade deadline moves for a cup competitor I’ve ever seen.

Also, we HAVE TO move Fox, not because he’s killing the team but because what he could bring back. You trade him and you don’t HAVE to get a 1st dman back as we can move miller up. We do have to get someone ready to play now though that has grit and can finish, which is tough to get but for Fox it can be done. This team should look quite different next season. Ideally we move Fox, get Mika to waive his NMC and trade him, get Rosolovic and Wennberg out of here, lose deadweight Chytil and Kakko and rebuild from there. Lots of things need to be fixed and changed but not sure Drury is the right guy to do it.

Yup, many of us were mad at the deadline for that very reason. They were nonsense moves because Drury crapped out and they didn’t want egg on their face. Wenberg atleast is what he is an a bottom line and is passable. Roslovic is absolutely friggin useless.

I feel like you can tell when a team is going to fade and it feels like tmr rangers will fade. Especially them who we’ve seen over the years bow out to better teams . Like in 2014 the Kings were the better team and it was obvious every game

There is no doubt guys like Mika, Panarin, Kreider, and Fox are at the top of the list for why the Rangers are trailing the Panthers, it is on those "top guys", agreed.

With that said, I disagree with you guys on Roslovic adding anything really, and I claim he is useless two reasons. First, 4 of his 8 points, and both of his goals came against the very overmatched and outclassed Caps. In the 11 games since he has zero goals and 4 total points, and only has points in 3 of 11 games, so 8 of the 11 games in rounds 2 & 3 he has zero points. Second, he was not brought in to be a role player, he was brought in as the RW upgrade we needed to play with Kreider and Zibanejad, and he has been terrible at it. Wennberg has 1 goal and 2 total points in the playoffs and is 44% on FO's. Wennberg is not useless because he is a responsible player who plays on the PK as well, but he is not adding a lot of value, and I feel he is a big reason the 3rd line has done sh*t all playoffs. Those are the two guys Drury added for our big SC push, and it was not good enough.

To your question Panzer of who Drury could have traded for, it is a very fair and legit question, and I don't have a for sure answer. All I will say is just because someone wasn't traded doesn't mean he couldn't have been for the right offer. If Drury was willing to trade the 30th pick, could we have gotten a legit RW. Could we have gotten Buch, could we have gotten Vatrano, could we have gotten someone else of value, maybe a C who could actually win a FO and score a few goals unlike Wennberg? Not sure, but I know what we did add was not good enough. But hey, the playoffs are not over yet, maybe one or both of these guys will step up and help us come back and win this series.

Completely inaccurate. Other than one loss, three to nothing the Rangers out played the Kings the majority of those games. The officials screwed the Rangers twice in games with like two minutes left so much so that the league apologized in the off-season to the Rangers. I still say if Girardi was close to healthy and that series the Rangers win it.
