Powell and Covington with 8 shots together and Dame and CJ with 24 together I see pretty close 50 attempt night between our guards tonight this just might not end well.

Probably, but it makes absolutely no sense not try adjust when what you're running is getting killed. They got a great shot every time we dropped Kanter, so theres no where t otl go but up with an adjustment. Yet I guarantee you we'll run drop with Kanter again in the 2nd half, and itll make no sense.
it's such a terry sttots level of thinking to be like " they missed shots, so why change" when you can't look past the actual result. how many wide open looks did conley and mitchell get cuz enes was in drop? that's just asking for disaster

It is possible they've attempted these things in practice and it's been an absolute disaster. I have no access to practice, so I can't say.

Like you said, Kanter won't be a great defender in drop. I don't think there's any doubt he'll be a bad defender at 25ft. The one big difference is on the 20-25% of attempts that do miss, if we drop him, he'll be in position to rebound. At 25ft he's totally worthless.

Portland played better defense than they have in a while; RoCo is an ultimate pest and his hands are everywhere

but Utah sure missed a lot of open shots that had nothing to do with Blazer defense. Might be OT legs from last night. I hope they don't find the range in the 2nd half

and I've tried to overlook it...or rather underhear it, but I really can't stand Jordan Kent's voice anymore

No matter what he's shooting, I'd never count Dame out when it's clutch time. I'd think this has been settled awhile ago.

I'd never count him out. Just hard to see him struggle when we know his greatness

I'd rather hear Jordan Kent than national commentators jacking off opponents all night.

Up 3 at half against a team who is 22-2 at home, glad to see so many happy faces enjoying a competitive game.

Oh, I'm enjoying it. The Blazers have exceeded expectations tonight already.

im wondering if hoping for a 1st round exit is a bad thing

whatever it takes to fire terry stotts

Yup. Let's bring Kanter up and have Melo-CJ-Dame-Ant pulling over and rotating on the backside.

That's playing right into what Utah wants to do. Every team that has had success defending Utah has done what we did in the first half.

Drop and play the pnr 2v2 and switch all non Gobert screening actions.

Yeah you'll get beat off the dribble at times, but the entire season has shown that that's better than the alternative.

For everyone who is highly confident the Blazers will lose this game: There are some decent moneyline odds on the Oregon Lottery Sportsbook. If you're going to be mad we lost, might as well make some money!

Yes, it’s more reliable to look at quality of shots.

enes has had more success trapping than in drop this year, but let's not let facts get in the way of terry stotts' genius

It's incredibly frustrating to hear about how we play our bigs in pnr as seemingly the top reason why our defense sucks.

That's so far down the list for me.

Effort, execution, communication, lineup choices, roster construction are all so much more of a factor.
