So do people who don't travel or go to games fair weather? Asking for a friend...

I purposefully give the least amount of money to the Blazers because they are a big business - and only pay when I have to. That does not make me or anyone else who does that a fair weather fan.

You have -got- to let that insecurity go that their is a heiarchy of fans and you fit a higher bill than others because of things that are your choices, and the others make their choices.

I'm a die hard life long fan... but I'm always thinking big picture. When I see the team is flawed and feel like players and GM are not trying, I'm not financially supporting them. I still watch all the games... this team, as it is currently constructed, is going no where... but I think we have the pieces to make a contender, they just don't fit together, and we need to make some major trades. I rarely post, but I read here a lot... I got sick of this guy blowing his wad on traveling with the team calling everyone fair weather... I do think this season is over, and I am rooting for a tank, but not a complete rebuild... just to get a higher pick to package in a trade, then make a legit run next year

So you believe in the players but won't support them? I have a blast at the games win or lose. On TV, it's only fun if we win. But if you don't support team when things are bad, then by definition, you are a fairweather fan. Own the distinction with pride.

Early in season, you said you wanted competitive losses and wanted to beat good teams. Well we have been in every game since the lineup change and could easily be on a 7 game winning streak. Meanwhile, over the last month, we have beaten the top two teams in the East and the Grizzlies who said we are a good defensive team. Dame scored 13 straight points in 4th quarter while guarded by Tony Allen. Step by step, things are turning around.

Didn't you say that Gasol was a horrible defender?

I was joking about Gasol.

How are the closer losses different? Coming back from 21 down against Warriors and back from 7 down with 30 seconds left to getting off a wide open three pointer that would've won the game. Or the layup Plumlee nearly missed that would've beaten a hot Philly team. Or coming back from 24 down to tie the Mavericks. This team has been fighting tooth and nail. When we win, no one gives them credit but a couple close losses and we're awful and not worth watching.

Listening on radio is great too! Don't bash the player's effort when you're only listening on radio though. There is no way for you to know.

Well, then, no one on this forum fails to qualify as supporting the team, since they're all participating, at the very least by posting.

Some of us support the team with tough love. It's for their own good. They'll thank us later (maybe not Olshey or Stotts, if they're fired).

The only way you can effectively tank on purpose is to sit your top players for the rest of the season. Which is ridiculous to think it would happen before the all star break for Portland. Another problem with tanking is that there are so many games in April that are at home. Unless Dame and CJ are banged up I doubt they will agree to sit.

I think those who want to tank are better off hoping our opponents all get hot. Brooklyn, Lakers, and Phoenix will all tank IMO after the all star break. Not sure about Dallas. But the rest might try to win though.
