He shows flashes, but he just doesn't play with the consistency Aminu does. Aminu is not the most consistent player either, but he puts out a ton of effort and is a huge defensive presence every night. I don't think that Harkless slacks off, but he does have a tendency to go invisible at times.

Aminu is a better shooter and defender. Maybe Harkless could be as good on defense if he played with the amount of effort Aminu does.. But he doesn't.

I agree that Harkless hasn't done anything to earn the start, but he's certainly shown to have more potential that Aminu. Aminu does try hard, but a lot is wasted effort resulting in one step forward and one step back.
