Both Riley and Jackson couldn’t do it at NY
Ny Knicks last chance was 94. In fact, MSG network had the 94 Knicks channel. Got to say, that channel is below grade. They actually have a still screen with drum beats stating "Want live sports" How absurd that they waste money and time when they charge ridiculous money for events.

After the game on the TNT broadcast, McCollum said that getting more catch-and-shoot treys has helped him get hot. In his previous five games, McCollum has 2.4 catch-and-shoot treys, which crushes his 1.1 catch-and-shoot treys in his previous 47 games

Hey remember a few weeks back when this exact thing was talked about on this board? That we use him more like Klay and less like Dame? Nice to see Stotts come around. Now where’s our commission

Once again, the Coach learns from the overall sentiment of the board. Well done us!

They didn't have a chance in '99 when they reached the finals?

Some notes:

- CJ is on a ridiculous streak. Everything he's throwing up is going in.
- Dame needs to fix his shot. His shot attempts can come way down with the team we have now.
- When healthy, this team is DEEP
- Jake should not ever play less than 25 mins, and nearly all of them should come with Nurk
- Rodney is streaky so this wasn't unexpected, but he gets such great looks when playing with Dame and CJ
- There is no need to play ET 18 mins.
- Collins earned his DNP in the first half.
- Our waiver pickup should be at a position we feel is most vulnerable if there's an injury. That's either PG or C. I really want to give a long look at Shelvin Mack/Teodosic, or Rolo/Gortat.

Takeaway: Just get on with it and bench Moe/Aminu and move Hood/Layman into the starting lineup, and slide Evan even further down the bench.

I thought Aminu played well in his 22 minutes. 11 points and 8 rebounds on 3-5 shooting....I'll take that all day from Chief and we will need his length against bigger teams. Harkless on the other hand seems to be in one of his 'checked out' periods. I find myself watching the starts of games just waiting for Layman to come in to replace him.

I like Harkless but he definitely seems to be the odd one out (Really ET is, but Stotts won't bench him in a million year

Dame moves into 13th place passing Mychal Thompson. He's only 21 behind, yep, LaMarcus Aldridge. Dame is averaging 1.1 steals per game this year. 28 games remaining. Dame will most likely pass Aldridge by the end of this season.
I'm going to ask the fans that watched the drexler blazers, why so many steals? Was the game looser? Did fouls not get called for swipes as much? Did people not take care of the ball?

That team was just much more active defensively. Drexler was an athletic freak as was Kersey and the rest of the team fed off of that. When they went into 'defensive frenzy' mode, they were so much fun to watch. It was more hectic than it was solid man-to-man defense but it would terrorize teams at times.

I'm sure if he twisted his ankle TNT would've showed at least one replay of it.
The only thing that looked wrong with Rudy is he looked gassed when Pop pulled him.
But as Reggie said, run him into the ground with as hot as he was.
Or at the very least wait until he misses a shot.

He had 4 fouls. That’s why he was pulled.

Also why I’m not a proponent of the principle of just pulling someone based on fouls.

So why didn't Collins play? I'm not going to read this entire thread if it has already been answered.

Aminu on defense play terrible he didn't get close 3 point shooter he got tooken off the dribble numerous time. He did rebound well but the last two game the defense side hasn't been there and Harkless hasn't been neither. Matter fact the 1st unit defense was just terrible in 1st QT.

It looks like Stotts going to split time with Leonard and Zach and Leonard was 1st up in this game. But when one of them out shine the other then that one will get the majority of the minutes down the road.

I think Stotts is missing the boat then. Collins needs to get some time at power forward.

Well I do agree but it will take Stotts to bench someone else. I do believe Zach and Skals will be the power forward going into next year.

It’s much more dynamic offensively and I think Jake will get better defensively he just needs time. This is his first year really with any sort of role and you can see how antsy he is on defense. At the same time you also see flashes of a pretty good defender.
He will quickly become a better defender than Aminu. Just reducing/eliminating those twitch-jumps will be a big step. Even with those twitch-jumps last night he did a better job than Aminu did - at least Jake was aware of where his man (and the ball!) were, he just happened to fly right by!

I'm trying to imagine Clyde in today's game... With his size and strength, and weak outside shot, would anyone play him at SG? I assume he'd be slotted as a SF. They couldn't even put him at PF because he wouldn't have the stretch-4 aspect to his game.

Clyde lived in the passing lanes, and that was a big part of the team's fast break mojo. He probably jumped the passing lanes more times per game than this current team does per season.

I dunno. The quickness with which he was calling time outs in the first half seemed to indicate that he cared. As did the fact that he rested Aldridge and Derozan Wednesdayinstead of last night.

He wanted that game...it simply was not to be.

No doubt Pops wanted that game as he conceded the game the night before when he sat players to save them for us.

He'd be dunking on everyone in the league.

TURNING 50

The Portland Trail Blazers have announced some of the plans for next season's 50th anniversary, including a special logo and a preseason game at the team's old arena, Memorial Coliseum. There will even be a commemorative Trail Blazers Pinot Noir in partnership with Oregon winemaker Adelsheim Vineyard.

Mayor Ted Wheeler said the Blazers represent the ''ethos of what we have to offer: our pioneering spirit, our perseverance, and our trail-blazing mentality. 'Source: MSN sports

Jeez. I don't think I've been into a game like that in a long time. After the last couple of days with the trade deadline it just felt like an exorcism. The people next to me looked at mel ike I was a drunk British sailor being kicked out of a pre war Dutch whore house.

That’s oddly specific

Quite possibly, but there are plenty of guys who can do that. He'd have a lot of run-outs on long 3pt misses, but would his mid-range game translate?
There are few in the league today that are near his size and speed. Greek Freak is longer but after him I don't see anyone who could keep up with him.

Clyde was an insane athlete. Watching him dribble with his head down blowing by people was just unbelievable.

Wish I could know what this felt like while you're in the air

And now we're back to my original post.
Pop pulled the hot hand after he made how many? Guess Stotts isn't the only one who makes bad coaching decisions.

It's stuff like this is why I've stopped posting/visiting s2 so much.
Grass is always greener.

So because Pops has made bad decisions that means what? Terry gets a pass?

Everybody makes bad decisions from time to time. Doesn't mean everyone is on equal footing. Terry routinely shows the same short-comings year after year after year. Pops has won who knows how many championships and has kept his team winning while people have been calling for its demise for going on a decade. But yeah, because he pulled Gay during a hot streak he's the same as Terry.

Despite living in Texas, Pops' grass IS greener than Terry's.

Rudy Gay is 32 years old averaging 27 minutes a game, and who has missed about 30 games a year over the last 3 because of injuries. When he left the game in the 3rd Q, he had already played 25 minutes, just 2 under his average

I'd be pretty confident that Pop knows the capabilities of his players well enough to judge what kind of endurance they have and what kind of stress and fatigue that can absorb. I think it's pretty funny that some posters are are acting like they know more about a Spurs' player than Pop and are therefore qualified to label a substitution a mistake just because doing so somehow 'proves' some ancillary argument they are making

I must leave this alone.... I must leave this alone.... I must leave this alone. Okay all better now.
