I'm not sure he's defending well either, his assists are in line with the last 5 years and his turnovers are the highest they've been since 2015.
It's a rough stretch.
his turnovers per 100-possessions are the same as last year. Turnover rate and turnovers/36 are the highest since 2015-16, the last time the offense changed (after the Aldridge team broke-up). But all those numbers are skewed by one 6 turnover game. Cut those in half and all his turnover numbers are normal, if not slightly lower
also, if you're looking to pass more, there will probably be more turnovers. Dame's assist/100-possession mark is 11.9 which is significantly more than last year's career high of 10.4. His assist/36 mark is 9.1 when his career mark is 6.6 and previous high is 7.7. In fact, his turnovers/36 have increased over last season by 3.3% while his assists/36 have increased by 19.7%. Fuller context shows that his turnovers are not an issue
so no, his assist levels are not the same and his turnover levels are not bad
