not paying off short term but I think the idea was a long term payoff....they value the investment but we're just watching the stock drop early...it'll make gains down the road

No. Cry now. It's over.

Seriously, I remember when a lot of us thought McCollum was never going to pan out. Ever since then, I've learned to stay patient and trust Olshey and Stotts. They haven't let me down. They've earned it.

How do you know?
I've made some smart investments in my old age.....it's pretty simple...Neil Olshey could explain it to you but to understand my post you must understand that I trust Olshey's vision....if you don't then you'll probably not be a happy camper about the direction of the team

From what I've seen...CJ will never be a pt guard...he's a shooter

Your probably right riverman, CJ would probably be best off the bench. You've been calling it for awhile now.

Convincing him would be a challenge though.

No. Cry now. It's over.
The only thing that would make me weep uncontrollably would be winning a championship...until then nobody sucks the joy out of Blazer basketball in the few decades I have left to enjoy it! :)

A compounding problem with that, is the coach is pressed to play the guys with the big contracts. If Napier players, that means either Crabbe or Turner get little time
Can we give the team more than six FUCKING games?

Sweet Christ you guys are embarrassing yourselves. It looks like Dame has taken the Curry-esque leap Steph made during his MVP year. The rest of the team has started off cold from the field and when that happens our small ball lineup and roster is much less effective.

Before you guys wet the bed ask yourselves what you trust more....a 90 game sample size or 6.

Take a damn chill pill and let's evaluate this team at 20 games. Does interior weakness look to be a weakness again this year? Sure does. But Stotts has always shown to adjust given the data. If I remember correctly we were horrid defensively last year and adjusted throughout the year and ended up closer to average?

We can only talk about what we see now. Turner is playing a position he's never played before (and looks horrible), so what reason do we have to hope he'll suddenly become a good PG? And no one else is really playing that much worse than their career body of work. They are a group of medicore guys with terrible chemistry because Stotts keeps trying to play Turner at PG.

At last a kindred spirit! Always baffles me when Blazer fans attack other fans for cheering the team on........2 of our losses were to contenders of the 3....I guess you're only as good as your last mistake around here sometimes....folks didn't even mention how we limited second chance pts all night with defensive rebounding...to me, it's just going to get better

Aminu is another example: he's never been a good 3pt shooter in his career. He shot a respectable % last year, but now he's back down to around his career average. Stotts is insisting on using him as a spot up 3pt shooter. Another example of him misusing a guy.

I guess I'm struggling for any possible reason why Noah's not getting minutes. Crazy to say he doesn't deserve minutes.
Trying to stay positive.

I think Dame wants the MVP and the scoring title this year...he's hungry! To anyone who thinks he didn't enjoy scoring 42 tonight...I'd say you're wrong...the whole team loved it...it was fun.

Then let's talk about how the team is struggling to find their shots and how Stotts is still trying to fit Turner in. Let's look at statistics and base our discussions off of that and what we could possibly do to make the bench unit run smoother. Napier got time tonight, maybe Stotts has seen what we have and will start using him off the bench so CJ can stay at the 2 and Turner can slide to a more natural 3?

Let's not start threads and call THE MOST IMPROVED PLAYER IN THE NBA a "role player. I'm not saying the Blazers are hitting on all cylinders, but we've got a debateably Top 5 player in the NBA balling his brains out right now and a roster that led a majority of the series against one of the greatest teams in NBA history in their first season together.

I'm all in for statistically based debate but it's absurd to come in here after every game so far this year and see you guys screaming to blow it up already. I've been here a long time and a majority of you are much smarter than that.

90 v 6 my man....90 games vs 6.....

We're just really deep and Stotts is looking at different combos off the bench...matchups. Vonleh will get his time..same as Napier..there will be games where they don't play....I think Stotts is trying to get Meyers into game shape and this was a game he could play him in...Noah's already in game shape

Just because you win MIP doesn't mean you're not a role player. If CJ were a star, the Blazers wouldn't consistently be getting their asses kicked by groups of scrubs when he's supposed to be leading the team with Dame sits.

That has me scratching my head these past games. Noah had a fantastic pre-season and a flawless first game and a so-so second game. But suddenly he's been getting fewer and fewer minutes (garbage time doesn't count), and now he hasn't played in the past 2 games.

I wonder why. Did he eat the last of the shrimp on the team plane or something?

He's had 464 career games, and for most of his career he's not been a very good 3pt shooter. Good shooters don't hit the side of the backboard on wide open shots.

I'll tell you why, it's because he doesn't have a 10 million dollar contract. Stotts is trying to cover Olshey's ass.

If I were Stotts, I'd play
Damian/Napier
CJ/Crabbe
Harkless/Layman
Vonleh/Davis
Plumlee (ezeli when he gets healthy)

No Aminu, Turner or Leonard

I think he's the secret weapon and Stotts is trying to get the sites adjusted on the rusty ones

Noah I believe has just turned 21....probably not built up that tolerance for drinking like a fish yet..

Maybe Neil really does have a plan and he's showcasing some of the various players.....or at least trying to showcase them...so he can trade them in time for the pieces we really need....and/or to make room for guys like Vonleh and Layman to play....? Its fairly obvious that the team that started the season is unlikely to be the team that finishes the season.....

To completely give up on Turner after only 6 games would be sooooooooo premature. We are asking this guy to basically be our backup point guard, and it's not working right now. He's a shooting guard who can handle the ball and distribute, but he's not a point guard. People have got to be patient.

Except for all the unwarranted negativity. Sucked the fun right out of Dame's outstanding performance....and overshadowed a really nice game by Plums. The season is a marathon, not a sprint and anyone who doesn't get that needs to go back to hanging out on OLive.....

I had to take a long time out just to keep my sense of humor.....and to sample the fruits of my labor....worked like a charm..! May you never thirst my friend!
